What was it they just said a couple of minutes ago about Roy Williams? Something like "Get that big guy involved in the offense and good things will happen"? Could have been talking about AJ.

Seriously, if they can get AJ and Bradford the ball long that's going to open things up for Davis (Who I'd have sitting on the bench in favor of Wells but that's just me right now)

how long have i been screaming about going deep with AJ?

he obliterated cash, there probably could have been a penalty called on that... a couple more big plays is gonna open up the run.

Davis has over 20 touches in 3 qtrs, he is only going to get more tired which could lead to more turnovers, i'd rather take my chance with david's arm than Dominks hands.

The Texans have, if possible regressed in their third year.

ledzeppelin229
09-19-2004, 02:14 PM
On the bright side..it could be 21-3. On another bright side, atleast we're playing from behind and they might be forced to pass. Wait, that's what the defense expects, time for some draw plays!! Let me make sure of the date...yep..2004...man could have sworn this was the 2002 Texans

HJam72
09-19-2004, 02:14 PM
DD shouldn't even be in this game, anymore. He's gonna get too tired and fumble again. Besides, he's done it enough already. We're gonna go 0-3. This team was good enough to go 2-1, easily.

Hervoyel
09-19-2004, 02:15 PM
Let's blow open a hole like Drummond had and see what happens.

It can't happen because JJ won't run in a straight line like that. He'll run around for about 30 yards in circles and cutbacks and in the end gain 7.

It can't happen because JJ won't run in a straight line like that. He'll run around for about 30 yards in circles and cutbacks and in the end gain 7.

it'd be nice if JJ didnt have to juke 4 guys at the 15 yard line on kickoffs. someone needs to block, they're coming free from everywhere.

and quit throwing it to DD! holy poop i dont care if we dont complete another pass, atleast give our receivers a chance.

Keldar

21-16. now in the unlikely event that we can stop the Lions and get another TD we're going to be up 23-21 (or 22-21 if they do another two point conversion and fail at that one AGAIN, and they will) so that gives the Lions that late drive for a winning FIELD GOAL.

Can't do it. I'm all out. I have no desire whatsoever to watch the 2002 Texans play again. This game from the Texans perspective has been a complete abortion. This 2004 team is bad and I don't mean bad in the sense that the 2002 and 2003 teams were bad. This team plays beneath their abilities. They're unfocused, undisciplined, and uninspired. They do not deserve the amount of support they have from me, from you, or from anyone else. This is the first time the Texans have placed a product on the field that's underachieved.

If they're playing like this against the Chargers and Lions then what can anyone expect when they play the good teams? I'm disgusted beyond belief by this performance and by these players .

We all know they don't call a sack, but by running for 2 yds on 1st down, it almost gurantees a pass play and they can bring all their rushers.
Carr doesn't have time to work through a lot of progressions on his pass plays. Likely whowever he is throwing to is who the play was designed for.

Before the 2min drill, that didn't matter because the game was over, and Joey doesn't get a chance to throw the ball every down like Carr does in response

It pads his stats and raises his QB rate over Harrington who before the garbage time was leading the QB rate Battle

DD has fumbled 4 times in 2 games. What does it tell Wells when DD still finishes this game? DD should be out for the next game, unless Wells manages to fumble a couple of times during it. You just can't keep screwing up like that and still be Mr. #1 guy. I know that DD is our best RB, but he has to start playing like it. I wonder if Hollings would be getting a chance. You don't know what another RB might do, if given the chance, so I see no reason to put up with one that is coughing up the ball like it's a fur-ball.

The O-line looked good. In fact, the whole offense looked good, except for DD. The play calling is too conservative, but it's the fumbles that killed us (again).

On defense, I believe I saw more blitzing and I'm real happy about that. Dunta is still a rookie. Can't say I expected anymore from him yet, anyway. Don't forget that 7 of those 28 points were scored on the kickoff coverage and DD fumbling the ball hurt the defense as well.

jacquescas
09-19-2004, 03:12 PM
This game was DD's fault. Those 2 fumbles gave em 14 points....

Also i think we need to let Carr throw the ball more, he is shown in these two loses that he can make good decisions and is accurate. maybe he hasn't been great. but his numbers are good for loses... these games were not lost on his arm. but he also didn't win them for us either.

The games were lost on Davis fumbling, so we need to take the ball out of his hands, we really needed hollings in there.

I think after the start of the game Carr settled down and had a pretty good game. I saw a little pocket presence on a play or two, and I saw him make some very accurate throws. He made some decent decisions and led us down the field for two scores. The ball to AJ should have been ruled a completion, plus he passed for over 300 yards, two touchdowns, and yes he was intercepted. And BTW, it might be just a game, but doesn't this get under even your skin just a little bit?

Vinny, give me a break! Carr was awesome once they took the handcuffs off him in the third quarter. He made great plays all second half despite the fact they were in passing situations and the front four was putting a lot of pressure on him. I hope the coaches learned a lesson here. How about showing that impartiality that you claim to display! You can be impressed with him all you want. To me, he was not too good but he had a nice toss to AJ and I'm glad he saw the busted coverage on Bradford. Most of his passes were locked on to Davis underneath for much of this great second half you speak of. I'm underwhelmed.

Carr had a very good second half: 17-22-223, 2TD, 0 INT. Yes he did, and I'm not blaming him for our loss either. I was just quoted earlier as to what I thought about both QB's play and I think they both played poorly on balance. Carr either has poor field vision and pocket feel or he is poorly coached imo. The first half was brutal for both guys.

aj.
09-19-2004, 09:49 PM
I didn't say you were blaming him for the loss. I said he had a very good second half.

Poor pocket presence has always been a problem for him. His footwork inside the pocket is below average and he has never learned to shuffle or baby step. He tries to take those long strides when the pocket is collapsing around him and most of the time it just doesn't work. He needs to spend some time with whoever coached Tom Brady. He appears gangly and clutzsy at times when he's under pressure. I thought Carr had terrible first half and a very good second half. Given enough time to throw, he can be an above average QB, but it's not always the OL. He can do a better job of avioding the rush. He had several outstanding throws today to Bradford, Gaff, AJ and Armstrong - on a rope and accurate.

Vinny
09-19-2004, 09:55 PM
