First Steve Smith, and now Stephen Davis. ESPN is reporting he'll be out 2 to 5 weeks.

It didn't take the latest hurricane-induced deluge for Carolina Panthers team officials to acknowledge on Friday afternoon that, when it rains, it pours.

Already shorthanded because of injuries, the Panthers on Friday lost starting tailback Stephen Davis, arguably the centerpiece of their offense, to a knee injury. Davis was scheduled to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery to repair cartilage damage Friday afternoon, and the ninth-year veteran will miss two to five weeks. It looks like Carolina could be the team this year that doesn't make it back to the playoffs. They seem to have the black cloud of bad luck over them this year.

Foster is more than capable of taking the load. Davis will be back in 4-5. They will be ok.

I'm not so sure they'll be ok. They had the O-Line concerns coming into the season, but then to add to it by losing Smith and Davis. Looks like they could continue the trend of the SB loser from last year missing the playoffs the next (ie Bucs, Raiders, Rams, etc.)
