How does lack of a running game equate to 2 interceptions, and bad ones at that?

Stop throwing the ball, stop running the ball, what should we do?

The thing is, it seems a few mistakes in a game for the Texans just snowballs and they build upon those mistakes and keep getting flustered and go through the "here we go again" mode.. and actually appear to give up.

Cowboys, they come out with multiple penatlies, bad starts - but they keep their focus and realize to keep working through the ENTIRE game till the momentum swings their way.

That's the first time I've seen Buchanon make a play as a CB this whole season.

actually, this is the first time I've seen him at CB this season period.

He made up for it the very next play.

Does our secondary coach teach our players to look for the ball? If Brown or McCleon look for the ball, they could have at least deflected it.

I'll give the D this. It's harder to stop a team when they have the ball at our 30 instead of having to go 60 or 70 yards.

Good point but the signs were there all along. We could not run the ball from the start and we knew it would catch up to us. If you can't convert 3 and 1 running the ball 3 times you can't win.

I must have been right, because P-Buc didn't look either.

I rarely see Dunta look for it. He's always coming up and making the tackle a second after the catch is (easily) made. His rookie season he covered people, since then he's just the quickest guy we have to bring down the opposing player who just caught a pass in front of him.

For two years now I've just quietly hoped that all the gushing love over Hoke was merited. I generally chalk their shortcomings up to a lack of pressure but that's not always the case. Often they seem to suck even when we're bringing heat.

This was a game for a half because of Carr. They are running for under 2 yards a carry. We would have gone 3 and out every possesion of the first half if not for Carr's passing. Yes but you could see it coming all through the first half IMO. It wasn't a question in my mind of IF the Texans were going to do this. It was just a question of WHEN they did it. When Buchanon gave them a short field and they did squat with it that was a sign that the Texans had pretty much fired their shot for the day.

When they had a chance to jump on the Cowboys near the end of the first quarter and chose to punt instead of getting the one foot they needed to keep the drive alive that told me what they thought of their chances today. Many will say that was the wise thing to do. Yeah that's fine. The guy who did go for it (and who didn't get it I might add) kept plugging away and his team is kicking our butts. Kubiaks primary focus is just trying to hide the warts this season. He'll add some more of "his guys" next off-season and either show us results in 2007 or the fans will turn on him something awful.

Stupidest statement of the day.

I have been the BIGGEST critic of Carr on this board newbie. I have been down on his the last four years.. This year, with better coaches, he has shown much better poise in the pocket, better accuracy, and ball placement..

No newbie here, been to every game in Houston since game 1, year 1 and I sit right on the front row so I see first hand just how weak Carr is on the field and on the sideline. I just don't live here, but hey if that makes you feel better to believe then so be it. We have no running game yet drafted a defensive player who had one good HALF of a season in college? Yea, who needed Reggie Bush, heh.

question 1 for Kubiak's and Carr's radio show - how come the team comes out blazing early in games then makes a few mistakes and all the fire goes out of them?

It's a lack of mental toughness that has been instilled since day one. Right now it looks like a team of cowards.

Some stats folks got together and ran the numbers and noted that mathematically speaking, a team should ALWAYS go for it on 4th and 2 outside their own 30 yard line.

Psychologically speaking, converting a 4th hurts the defense every bit as much as turnover on downs hurts the offense.

Now I'm not necessarily agreeing with the math guys, but NFL coaches are way too conservative as a breed.

It might very well be, I dont' recall.

Now that might be wrong but just the idea that nothing comes to mind makes me think of all the beatings Capers left him to the very end of. I remember reading how ol' Dom thought David was learning something from that but all I thought at the time was "Why put the miles on your rookie QB so early?" and "What do you learn from looking at the sky while a defender climbs off of you to do his sack dance?"

Oh yeah and the ever popular "What are we paying Tony Banks for anyway?"

There's no point for Carr to be in there when it's less than a minute to play and they're up by 28-34 points.

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!

Cowboys got in that ass today.

So where was Andre Johnson???...

Not to feed an obvious troll... but maybe AJ was on the field with a Cowboy in his.... umm.... nether region. But hey, if your team swings like that - more power to you.

How many times this game did they need one yard for a conversion and not get it? The run is killing this team.
