I didn't see it last night and I don't know why. There were a few concerns that I had about not seeing it. During our first preseason game we looked the best so far and we executed the zone blocking scheme well. When Kubiak was asked about it I remember him saying that he thought he put too much on the players too fast and maybe expected too much in return. (but we did execute) The second game we didn't do much zone blocking and we looked kinda crappy until we started rolling out and using some zone in the second half. Last night I didn't see a whole lot of the new scheme and it has me seriously concerned. Are we trying to be that vanilla that we aren't even going to use our new scheme much in the preseason? That makes no sense...we need all the practice we can get and that was our last preseason game for starters. I'm just a little concerned about the offense as a whole unit and I was rather impressed with the defenive unit. They played as one unit and for the second week in a row they kept us in the game.

It doesn't matter because the entire 53 man roster that Kubes will go with has not been seen yet. They will arrive when he's through practicing his coaching skills with these guys very soon. He didn't want the league to see our real players.

Ok...1st off I'm not poking you in the eye with this post but I am honestly curious about something.

Would you actually know if the Texans were running a zone blocking scheme by just watching the game broadcast? I hear a lot of folks that throw around "zone block this or zone block that" but not many actually can show that the know much more the mystical zone blocking than what they learned on this message board.

My point is that every team in the NFL uses Zone Blocking to one degree or another. The other note is that zone blocking looks a lot like assignment based blocking schemes, particularly if it's executed well.

Interesting......

& I'm no expert........ but we did run the zone blocking scheme more in this game than in the StL game(just off the top of my head, where I noticed it missing quite a bit)........ but we picked the wrong gap on most occasions.... I think that is going to hurt Lundy more than anything right now.... Morency(although he missed a couple as well) has better vision....... DD trumps them both, and we really need to get him back.

But I think last night had a definite MikeSherman stamp on the offense......... run game included. Makes our boys a little more versatile, gives us something else to throw in the mix.

I really don't think we have our offense situated just yet.... it's a work in progress, and for the most part, it looks to be coming along well.
