How good are we going to be?

I'm hoping for an 8-8 season with the majority of the wins coming in the second half of the season.

My biggest prayer for this season is to embarass the Cowboys one more time. They play on the road the week before and we have a bye week after our first three games. Maybe Kubiak can work some magic and.....:texflag:

I would hope for our first .500 season but I think our schedule is too tough for us to do that. I would look for a 6-10 to 7-9 season. I just don't want to see double digits in the loss column.

Bamaborn-Texasbred

I don't know....

I guess it all kind of depends on how they look.

There is an encouraging 6-10 and a discouraging 6-10. We just need to see that this team is improving in all aspects of the game. I hope Carr finally gets some breathing room. I'm excited to see what he is capable of when he isn't running for his life.

I'm predicting the texans to have about a 6-10 season, and a 3rd place division standing.

It would be nice if the other teams would just lay down for us, and give us a couple of wins...

Other than that, we're just going to have to be good enough to just go in there, and take a couple.

I think our offense ought to be able to score 21 points on a bad day. Our Defense will avg less than 18 points allowed.

We're going to have an awesome season.

We start off against the Eagles(internal troubles.... got a lot of things on their minds) We can knock them on their butts, and take that game.

and Indianapolis.... they'll still be trying to figure out what they did wrong in '05..... again, we knock them for a loop, and come out with a win in Indy...

Hopefully, Kubiak can keep our team from getting overconfident, and use these two wins to propel us to a 10+ win season.

I believe it could happen....... I know it will.

WOW! Put down the koolaid and step away from the computer.

I agree that you all should end up 3rd in the division, but I say at best you will be 8-8. 10+ wins will be hard enough for the Jags and the Colts.

Unfortunately, our secondary is not good enough to beat the Colts in Indy in week 2. Maybe by week 16, but not week 2

that's what I'm banking on........ the Colts...... trying to figure out Wazzup, with their last, and worst Play-off loss.... They're going to try to fix the problem, but they'll be looking at the wrong end all together.

Jax........ let's just say they overachieved a bit in a week division.... it'll be a different story in '06.

Wow, you guys are optimistic.

I bet every single team message board has the same thing going on right now. They look at their off-season, and every bad team thinks they're going to be at least .500, even though most of them will still suck.

Honestly, if we even get 5 wins this year, I'll be happy.

We were 7-9 two years ago and I think we have upgraded our personel since then. Barring injuries I think 9-7 is very plausible. And if we only win one game this year, it has to be the Cowboys, braggin rights on my roomate for the next 4 years.

i'd h8t 2 admit it but wtchin the jags play last season dammmmn i was impress, dey got a defence that would put fear n2 ne nfl team oh an with the addition of FA and the draft, their offence got a major boost now they r gna be a force on both sides of the ball.....and oh did i 4gt that the jags were if not the youngest team in the nfl. damn giv them a year or two nd they would be 1 of the best teams in the league.

I agree their defense is tight......... but offensively, the only guy I'm a fan of is Leftwhich.......... true... Gerard was impressive...... I like a guy who steps in, and tries to win the starting job....... & I respect a guy like Jimmy Smith...... like Rod Smith(maybe it's the name?? STeve Smith........ hmmmmm) I've got to imagine they are just being underestimated by their opponents(I don't know why they would be) because you'd think the corners in the nfl would be able to shut them down.

But Jacksonville played Seattle(winning early), Indy(Lost twice), Denver(lost), Cincy(I'm not impressed with them either.......... fun to watch, but not really a good football team)....Pittsburgh(IMHO, the only impressive win on the schedule), & they lost to the Pats(3-28........ ouch)

Seattle (13-3)
Indy(14-2)
Denver (13-3)
Cincy (11-5)
Pitts (11-5)
Pats (10-6)

Jax won 3 out of those 7 games(they played INDY twice).

The rest of the schedule??

jets (4-12)
ST louis (6-10)
Houston (2-14)
Baltimore (6-10)
Tennessee (4-12)
Arizona (5-11)
Cleveland (6-10)
SanFRan (4-12)

and none of them were blow outs....... I only watched a couple of the games Gerard played in..... but according to the score, and the stats, the Jacksonville Jaguars looked to be evenly matched with this slew of below .500 teams.........

Edit:I just checked the scores..... the Texans was a blow out, they ran up the score on Balt & one game against Tennessee....... still, I don't know if the games themselves were blow outs..... but they did run the score up.

Edit:Just checked the game notes...... Tennessee looks to be the only real blow out, where they dominated on both sides of the ball. Baltimore was beaten by the Defense...

Now consider this for a minuite. The Colts played those same teams (basically the same schedule). The only difference is we played Denver (another playoff team) and they played New England in the regular season, and we played the Jets while they played the Pats. Would you say that the Colts overachieved? Especially since two of thier 14 wins were against the "overachieving Jaguars"?

Also, we happened to win games without our defensive captain (Darius), offensive captain (Leftwich) and special teams captain (Sorenson). That says a lot about the quality and depth the team has.

Another thing to consider... this is the NFL, this is not college football. "Blowouts" aren't what count. All that matters is having more points at the end of the game and getting the W.

Say what you want, you are entitled to your opinion. I just get sick and tired of the "overachieve" and "soft schedule" comments that quite a few people make. The fact of the matter is that the Jaguars are a young, up-and-coming, solid team that will be contenders over the next few years at least. Not to mention the healthy salary cap that we have.

I will, and I have.... you asked me to elaborate, and I did. The Jags had a very good season, but it is no reason to believe they will have as good a season next year..... we'll all be playing a tougher schedule... the Colts will probably be around 11-5, the Jags more than likely will go to 9-7, and the Texans will finish anywhere between 9-7 to 12-4..... you overachieved, we under achieved.. we're a lot more equal than you want to believe... but that's ok.

I personally didn't think tooooo much about the colts going undefeated with their schedule..... they should've. but really good teams blow out really bad teams...... college, NFL, NBA, Pop Warner, Pony league....... whatever.

Even against us, we're right there with you until the 4th qtr.... & we loose the games due to our screw ups..... in our last game, it was 20-17 Houston with 12 mins to play....... i don't think we've ever had the lead on the Colts in the 4th.

We missed a 48 yard field goal, Then you go 6 plays on a short field, and a "lucky" 36 yard TD reception.
Then we throw an interception, you get the ball on our 17 yard line.... you run that in for a TD. 1 play.

Again, in our first meeting, we go into the 4th qtr with a 14-7 lead. Granted, that was some good football in that 4th Qtr, but still...... we were still in it, till the last :35 seconds, where we attempted a 4th & 9, and turned it over on downs.........

Again... you had a good season...... but don't go getting overconfident thinking you are in the same class as the Colts....... I mean as a fan, I am confident that we are as good as the Colts...... even better, but you won't see me on your board talking smack....... not saying that you are. But I made a comment, you overachieved......... and you did.

Let us grown folk talk in here.

Again, we were 2-14........ no one denies that we were a bad team.... yet we took Jax to the wire, deep into the 4th quarter on both occasions in 2005.

They were 3-4, against teams with winning records. And it was a dog fight with teams that weren't .500

the Texans will finish anywhere between 9-7 to 12-4.....

I love the Texans. I love the changes we've made. I love the management changes that have rid us of the "cloud of dust" offense that Capers tried to create. I love our team to death. But there is honesty no chance of us having better than a 9-7 next year. It will take a year or two before we get a winning season under our belt. Our schedule isn't "uber easy", either.... if you honestly think so than that is a completely different argument.

I pray that your predictions is true, thunderkyss..... but I am not so optimistic about our schedule for 06-07.

P.S. - I think the Jaguars had an excellent season last year, and I agree that you can't "accidently" get into the playoffs. (I do apologize for what happened in the wildcard game, though. Asante Samuels had his way with the Jags.)

If I were a JaxJags fan, I'd spin that 12-4 season all kinds of ways....... and I'd find the stats that would prove that we are better than the Colts(even though you were swept). I'm sure the stats exist...... and I'm sure reasonable excuses exist for those losses... who knew they were going to play defense??

But I'm not....... I'm actually the fan of a division rival..... so I chose to manipulate the stats to boost my teams performance(2-14........ I've got my work cut out) & I've got to make a climb up the divisional ladder sem reasonable to my fellow fans.......

to that end, Indy has individual problems that will have internal problems/leadership issues and what not, that will prevent them from fielding a competitive team.

Jax overachieved, and aren't really that much better than us.

Tennessee..... well, they're tennessee. For some reason, I don't have to convince Texans fans that we can beat them in '06....... it's a given.

there isn't that big of a talent differential between the best teams and the worst teams. teams that are 4-12 could be 12-4 with a few more plays. the jaguars made those plays. therefore, they had an excellent year last year.
