With the draft over and training camp still 3 months away, I thought it would be fun to go back and relive some of the greatest moments in Texans history. So, I dusted off some of my videos and pulled some of those moments out and will post them here.

Great Moment #1: Might as well start at the beginning. October 5, 1999...the night before the NFL granted Bob McNair the 32nd franchise. This is Channel 2 News coverage of the NFL owners meetings in Atlanta.

I'll try to add more as I have the time. I have every game, including preseason on tape, so if you have a request just let me know. But I'm going in chronological order, so if you ask for something in 2004 it may take awhile to get to it.

This is coverage from Channel 2 and Channel 13 on October 6, 1999 and then a week later at a downtown rally celebrating the new team.

Great Moment #6: The only thing worse than the VY vs RB debate around here was the name debate. Months and months of nothing but name ideas. Well, in September 2000 Bob McNair put the debate to rest. This is coverage from Channel 2 from the unveiling of the name and logo, plus the CBS and FOX pregame shows the following Sunday morning.

Great Moment #8: Ok, lets just call this one a moment. On February 18, 2002 the Texans held their Expansion Draft and selected Tony Boselli #1. It was a great moment at the time, and a big step forward for the new franchise. This is live coverage from the GRB on ESPN. Too bad things didn't work out as planned....and how ironic it is to listen to the announcers talk about how good our offensive line is going to be. *sigh*

I have to believe today will also be a great moment in Texans history, the day we are rid of Casserly. This could be the catalyst of getting this franchise on the right track.

Hey Swisher... just want to toss you some props for your archiving skills. Pretty damn awesome. ( err maybe I should use those footballs )

Seeing Ken Lay hawking football and saying what is good for the city was priceless. I wonder if Sachse is still single? She looks like she needs some company :)

Also is Childress still a part owner in the franchise? I don't see his name on the website anymore?

Great Moment #10: The Texans were on the clock, and on April 20, 2002 they selected Fresno State quarterback David Carr as their first ever draft pick. In four up and down (insert you're own joke here) seasons, David Carr has become the face of the franchise and will begin 2006 as Houston's starter for the 5th straight season. Hopefully he will finally live up to the status of being the number one pick. And besides, we could have picked Joey Harrington.

Unfortunately, they did not broadcast the game in Houston, so this is only highlights from FOX Sports Southwest.

Great Moment #13: It was August 5, 2002. Three years after the NFL awarded Bob McNair the 32nd franchise the Texans took the field for the first time. This is coverage from Monday Night Football. Al Michaels (who apparently can't say the word "Texans") and John Madden in his MNF debut. This is the first of 2 clips and shows the first series for both the offense and defense.

This is the second of two clips from the Hall of Fame Game. David Carr connects to Billy Miller for the touchdown. Amazing. Two #1 overall picks and both get booed!

Funny to watch the conviction that Jaws had with Joey H. Talking about what a wonderful QB he is going to be and then getting to see the now Joey, a journeyman across the league. I would have to say he is going to be the next Chris Chandler.

Wow!! I didn't think I would get past #13 and #14 without shedding a tear or two! I still have Billy Miller as my avitar, in honor of his first TD for our Texans!! I went to Canton that year and remember very well that awesome feeling when our Texans took the field for the very first time. Very emotional, I can tell you that much for sure. When he made that TD against the "girls" in our first regular season game, I became a Billy Miller fan for life. I wish him well in whatever path he is following now. He helped make TEXAN history, and I appreciate him for that!!

Man, I love these clips. But I seriously dislike it when Mike Patrick says the "Texas" offense, or the "Texas" instead of Texans. I know Al Michaels was guilty of this in the HOF game against the Giants as well. Other play-by-play guys have done this over the years too. :challenge

From Jaws in this clip: "There is depth not only at Tony Bosseli's position but at the offensive line in general. If your a quarterback or running back and you come to this Houston Texans franchise, you will have some beef in front of you. You're gonna have protection as a quarterback and room to run as a running back."

WOW. Just amazing.

Funny what happens when you judge things at the time and not in hindsight. Boselli passes the physical, Willie Roaf doesn't, so we take Boselli and we get two more players we wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

Lots of "if onlys" in the world.

Honestly, the only thing missing is the call from the radio. This is greatness, with or without it.

Honestly, the only thing missing is the call from the radio. This is greatness, with or without it.You can get the free NFL field pass with the archived radio calls right now...I've been listening to last season's games all off-season instead of the radio at times. At times I pop in the video and follow along.

I'm such a junkie. :francis: I listen to the opposing radio call on some of the games as well. Interesting how different they are at times.

Yeah, I was in Alabama on buisness on '04 when the Texans went to the Titans and won and let me tell you that was one of the most homer called games I had ever heard. We might think that some of the stuff we hear is kind of :homer: but we are not even close. For a large magority our broadcast is just slightly slanted which IMO is good.

Interesting to watch those clips from the 1st game and see some things missing from last year--a fire across the board. Exs. Corey Bradford stiffarming the DB and just running him over. Marcus Coleman laying wood and all the DB's jumping balls.

I thought it was kinda funny that on the first clip of the Dallas game. Onthe first play when Carr threw deep to Bradford and got the pass interference call. When they show the replay one of the announcers makes the comment about Carr had all day to throw and how good the offensive line is or something along those lines. And the only thing I could think was if they only knew.

But over all this is an amazing thread. Thanks Swisher.

My two greatest moments in texans history is:
1) Beating the Dallas Cowboys
2) Not taking Reggie Bush.
Now my #1 Team owns Reggie. Thanks Texans front office.:yahoo:

Too bad the saints still won't be able to win, even with 80 mil in the backfield.

Ooo lordy was that two of the worst looking teams I have seen fielded in Texas in a long time... yikes.

The Quincy Carter Experiment

---

Also did I hear Joe say the Dallas line averages out at 350 pounds? Dang that's pretty heavy.

---
Classic Texans' Moment:

Chris Palmer doesn't need a QB coach... sure he doesn't Joe says. Joe says look at what great work he has done with Rob Johnson, Couch, Brunell, and Bledsoe after stammering. Of course he doesn't need one. Carr then unloads the bomb to a wide open Lewis... that drops it. Followed then by a 12 men in the huddle,"flag,flag,flag"... penalty. 3rd and 15 now, that finishes up with Joe saying Lewis, "will make a lot more great catches for David Carr. I promise you."

classic.

I think I need another drink.

EDIT:

I am thinking calling that a drop is a bit too much... it just looks like he missed it completely.

Also looks like Joe's super genius Nostradomus-like powers are really not that shabby. Lewis did go on to make one more 65 yard TD catch the following year... for the Jaguars.
