5) Houston Texans - 946 million
The skinny
The Houston Texans have yet to have a winning season since joining the NFL in 2003. But the team has experienced nothing but victory on its profit and loss statement. Forbes 400 member Robert McNair has quickly taken advantage of the league dropping its restrictions on team marketing, limited to a 75 mile radius around their home city, by hiring a marketing director to take on the Dallas Cowboys throughout Texas. Houston has the second largest amount of Forbes 500 headquarters in the U.S., which enabled the team to rake in over $20 million in sponsorship and advertising revenue last year.
