dude doesn't work out for the combine...and now he doesn't work out on his pro day...needless to say his work ethic will be in question...i guess there is a real chance now he might fall to round two

I don't get it. He's one of those guys who had a chance to raise his draft stock after his great Rose Bowl performance. Then he shows up to his own pro day all fat and lazy.

White's agent needs to be fired.

That's me and LenDale. Pudge probably wants to save his best stuff for private workouts, like Leinart, I guess.

Maybe he just feels like it's all going to come down to what he does once he's actually in the NFL. :idonno:

He may have tried the opposite approach of VY. Both have very similar situations, both were overlooked at their positions and then both had games for the ages at the Rose Bowl. Now they agents have taken different paths. VY's is letting VY do what he wants, like playing in that skills competition after the college season when most people said he shouldnt hurt his stock. A lot of people got on the VY camp because of this because it could only show problems with VY and this may have made White's camp take the other approach and let the game film speak for itself. White isn't going to run a jaw dropping 40, the only thing a 40 can do is hurt him (which is overrated), he may not be "bench strong" but on-the-field strong so he doesnt want teams thinking he is weak. He may just wanna put the game film in and show teams what he can do on the field.

Not suprising coming from a guy who was nearly 260 during the Rose Bowl. He won't be anything in the NFL with that work ethic.

Has this ever crossed your mind, he is fat, slow and weak! He didn't run becasue he was hurt, he lifted 15 times, he wont be taken in round one, its to easy

Yeah, even if his on-the-field work speaks for itself, I'm not going to pour money on a guy who can't at least show me he wants to be an NFL player. I don't really know his situation (maybe he did accidently get hurt and doesn't want to compromise his 40 time), but you've got to show people some type of work ethic. It does sound like he's overweight, and the bench prseeing workout was kind of sad next to The President's numbers.

That said, he's still a good back. The stuff he did at USC is there. But right now 1st round picks should show a 1st round effort, especially when you're committing millions of dollars to a guy who already has a maturity issue.

Lendale is a lazy kid, he has been lazy and that is why he started early in his career and then lost carries to Reggie Bush. Do you honestly think that a 240lb RB that has his potential would have lost carries to a 200lb guy not likely. RB would have stayed an offensive specialist and then eventually moved to WR, but Lendale has no heart and sells himself short constantly. He will likely be a first rounder, but unless he gets a kick in the *** he will be a bust.

I stated in this thread (http://www.houstontexans.com/fan_zone/messageboards/showthread.php?p=261136#post261136) that White is overrated.

I said he looked flabby and is going to need alot of work, and was basically laughed at by a person or two.

If you are a RB in the NFL, you really cant have flabby arms IMO. That just means that the rest of you is flabby.

I disagree. He will be taken in the first round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are looking to replace the Bus and he is a similar style back. Working in a system where he doesnt have to shoulder the load is best for him and with Parker there, he would be the goal line back and power back.

Fear of having slow times and knowing that he's better on film and in actuall games? I'm just guessing.

Actually, I was under the apparently wrong impression that all rookies were paid the same amount untill contracts were signed AFTER the preseason ended, therefore allowing him to prove himself in preseason for whatever team drafted him. I assumed that because I think it SHOULD be that way, but it's obviously not.

PS-Guess I don't know didly about the money part of the game.

can we get a list of quotes from crazy4texas about how draft day will pan out...

Lendale white will not be drafted in the first round.

Vince Young will go number 1.

the entire Texas team will go in the first round.:stirpot:

Cowher's not going to take a guy with a bad work ethic just because he fits a mold of what they want. It's almost inexcusable that someone getting ready for the NFL draft can't work out. His hamstring is keeping him from running the 40. He should still be able to lift weights to improve some upperbody strength. I had a chance after the Rose Bowl (obviously) to sit and watch the game in more detail. I wasn't as impressed with him then as I was during the game. He ran the ball up the middle well, but the linebackers were non-existent and gave him more yards than he normally would have had. He had one nice stiff arm on one TD run and the rest was pretty pedestrian. If a team takes him in the 1st I think they are getting a lemon.

I think you're letting hindsight and his current state of affairs affect the way you are interpreting his performance in that game. Look at his burst through the hole, that's 250 coming fast and furious. NFL backs get one move before cutting upfield, he has that concept down pat. Yes, his O-line eating up defenders was a major component to his success, that's no shocker. Still, he manhandled the most solid tackling DB in this years draft and demoralized the Texas D (until that fateful play). If it wasn't for him, USC wouldn't have been close in that game, his running dropped the safety into the box and opened up the passing game. You say his performance looked "pedestrian", I look at it and say it was amazing in how simple it did look and how consistent he was. If his work ethic (and attitude) is an issue then he likely will fall, but I'm not going to try and take away his performance on the field...

He had a good game, but he's not going to see holes that size every play in the NFL. I think he showed average burst. I just didn't come away as impressed with him after watching the game a 2nd (or 3rd) time. He's a straight ahead runner and he's not as powerful as Bettis. This is just my opinion and considering I'm not employed as a scout or in the personnel department of an NFL team, I'm not a professional.

I can't imagine what that guy was thinking. I hope he's alright ...and not injured or anything. He's one of those guys I'm silently rooting for. I mean I'm not hating on Bush ...but I think Lendale is a more durable back and I was waiting for him to prove it.

I think he just blew his chance ...mostly because the spectators didn't piss and moan about him not working out (at least I haven't heard about it). When Vince decided not to run ...they all went crazy!

Another guy that pissed me off was Leinart. Now, I'm no fan of his and I don't really care where he goes in the draft ...but his excuse for not running and doing drills pissed me off! Dude, if you haven't noticed YOU'RE A FOOTBALL PLAYER ...You're not exempt from doing what everyone else does because you can throw a tight spiral! Hell, even punters run tha doggone 40! I mean, don't they?

Q: What is Lendale White thinking?

Sneaky answer: Trying to get drafted lower by a better team. Lots of deferred monetary gratification and trust in ones abilities in that point of view.

Likely answer: The TV remote, pizza and donuts. :homer:

Who is his agent??? Whoever it is, he is not doing White any favors.

I just find it laughable that the USC punter did only one less rep than Lendale did on Pro Day.

And on the idea of UT taking over the first round.... I doubt it. USC has an O-line, QB, RB (only one unless someone picks Lendale), and a score of others that have been predicted to be in the first round. No team will "dominate" the first round, but is impressive to see that many players out of one team at the top of the list.

NFL | L. White trying to keep covered
Mon, 3 Apr 2006 18:34:44 -0700

Jason Cole, writing for NBCSports.com, reports USC RB LenDale White wore a loose-fitting warm-up suit during his Pro Day in an effort to not show much of his body. He drew audible groans from NFL scouts at the NFL Combine when he showed his chest. After seeing White at the NFL Combine, one NFL general manager said, "The guy needed a bra, it was ridiculous. You come to the combine looking like that and you want to be a first-round pick? Come on. The guy had obviously been doing nothing."

I actually think LenDale White might fall out of the first round. His work ethic is going to be challenged and his lack of "getting in shape" will make teams get away from him. I would not suprised to see this guy weighing 260 when the season starts. It seems like he thinks his draft status is solid

New info on Len "The Whale" Dale White:

NFL | L. White being compared to Clarett
Mon, 3 Apr 2006 18:35:14 -0700

Jason Cole, writing for NBCSports.com, reports USC RB LenDale White is being mentioned in the same company as free agent RB Maurice Clarett. An NFL exeutive said, "We had one of our scouts go up and ask him what was going on (after White didn't run). The kid said his hamstring was tight or something like that. Then we tried to find out when he was going to run and he didn't know. It didn't even sound like he was going to run. What does this kid think?" A former USC offensive player who once was a teammate of White's said, "The guy can play, but he just gets by. He coasted in practice and he coasted in the offseason. He came in thinking he just had to put in his time and that's what you see now." The teammate added that the things White was able to do was because he played next to RB Reggie Bush and the other guys around him. He added that White would be amazing if he really worked at it.

20 124 and 3TDs, yeah that's a "good" game. All I want to say is, mister NFL scout, pro talent evaluator...if White is average (he is nowhere near as agile as Bus, don't know about power, whatever, Bus is still better) then why was he the one getting all those carries while Super Bush only got 13 touches and 85 yards (seemingly great stats)? If these holes were that huge and Bush is that great, then why didn't he have a performance for the ages? As for White, the guy looks sloppy now, but I've read the opinions of many other pro scouts, and they remain quite impressed with that performance.

This evaluation thing ain't that difficult, too bad I don't have any inside connects, oh well, better go fill out some job apps...

No, I think they will take Addai before him (I hope). Don't forget they have moved into the 15 spot and if the DT they want is not there, D'Angelo Williams might be. White really killed the gravy train with his pro day appearance (can't call it a performance), he's gonna tumble. Someone is either going to get a rededicated powerback or a new refrigerator..
