Titans | Agent says McNair wants to play 3-4 more years

Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans QB Steve McNair wants to play for at least three to four more seasons, according to his agent, James Bus Cook. Cook also said that McNair is not excited about possibly having to groom his potential successor. "All I know is Steve is a starter and he is one of the best quarterbacks in football," said Cook. "And if the Titans do in fact draft a new quarterback and they want Steve to stay around and be a mentor to him, then he needs to have a long-term deal. Otherwise it doesn't make sense for him to stay around." The Titans want to lower McNair's $23.46 million cap number for 2006, but talks between the team and Cook have stalled.

What is it with QBs and not wanting to groom their replacement?

First Favre with his attitude towards Rogers..now McNair. Its stupid.. you cant play forever dude.

Anyway..this thread is gonna get moved to the NFL forum.

I read somewhere yesterday that Bud Adams said it was time to draft a QB for the future, since it had been 10 years since they had drafted one with a high pick. Reese just said, "he's the Boss, so he can say or do what he want's to". McNair won't be around there too much longer.......
