John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports those close to the Cincinnati Bengals believe they may match the offer sheet the Houston Texans signed Bengals WR Kevin Walter to for two reasons: head coach Marvin Lewis likes the way Walter improved last season and WR Chris Henry's off-the-field problems means Walter has become more valuable to them.

Texans | Givens too expensive to sign?
Sun, 12 Mar 2006 17:39:04 -0800

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans spent Sunday, March 12, meeting with free agent WR David Givens (Patriots). Givens reportedly wants $25 million over five years and that's out of the Texans' price range. Late Saturday night, March 11, the Texans said Boston-based agent Brad Blank informed them that Givens was going to re-sign with the New England Patriots. This morning, Givens came to Houston as scheduled, told the Texans there had been some miscommunication and that he was definitely interested. They still haven't given up on him, but the price is too high.

Probably saw the rediculous contracts that Weaver and Rosenfels got and decided the Patriots could wait.

Would this mean he would take less of a contract?

Since we're on the Humble WR alumn slant we should try to bring over David Boston. Even if he can't play he can 'roid rage on any fans that get out of line...:)

Sure would be nice to have him on the team. Would definitly take some pressure off of AJ and would bring that championship mentality. Something we don't have with any of the other players.

That's waaaaay too much money for him. He's not even that good. He's not fast, he's injury prone. He's a decent possesion WR and that's about it. For 5 yrs. 25 million you better be a game breaker. He just saw the stupid money Randel El got from the Redskins and has dollar signs dancing in his head. I hope the Texans aren't stupid yet again and overpay another average player...
