View Full Version : Is Carr a Lameduck...

if he stays in houston? Is David Carr and the Texan organization in a losing position regardless of who our draft selection ends up being. Carr's first mistake will almost certainly draw the anger of thousands. It will only go down hill from there. Public opinion is largely in support of drafting Vince Young. More importantly, the team was splintered on Carr last season.

So now you have the fanbase and a part of the team who will be against Carr from the beginning of training camp. There are too many missing pieces in our lineup to win many more games. A 5 or 6 win season is a likely outcome for 06. The difference is that it will be perceived as a real negative with Carr at the helm whereas that outcome is a lot rosier with a rookie at the helm.

I think Carr would be considered a lame duck if Capers and Co. stayed in Houston. College QBs need to be brought up to a different level with coaches. They also need to be put with people who are somewhat talented. Carr hasn't been given any of that in four years. Carr has spent so much time on his back, the IRS thinks he's a hooker.

It depends who we draft. If we draft vince young he will be a lame duck. I think the further we get away from the Rose Bowl and the scouts start paying more attention to young and others, the uproar about vince will start to die down. I think carr will stay and should have a pretty good season. If vince goes to the titans it could get ugly if they beat us with vince, but that will not happen in young's first year. I would like to see the #1 draft pick traded to a team that wants vince young other than the titans. Then, if carr if anything from average to good he will be ok.

I think it depends:Does Carr come out passing as in 2004 3500+yds? Does Bush or D'Brickshaw give Carr more time and ability to move ball? Does a free agent pick up of Reggie Wayne give Carr two thousand yard receivers to throw touchdowns to? Does the addition of a ligit Tight End in second round help? Does Kubiak turn up the production of the running backs as he did in Denver? Will new line coaches or coordinators overcome the last season to allow the new team to move forward? I think most people's opinion is very hard to change.

I think with the Houston and UT connection it will keep the debate hot right through the draft. If we dont select Young I would trade the pick as well. As bad as we were this season it has to improve.

I think Carr is already a lame duck and has been for a while. I get the strong impression that the other players do not hold him in high regard, but it's JUST an impression. Some guy on another thread said that he actually had a friend on the team who reported this same thing, but is it good info or not?

The answer is YES of course but not for any of the reasons you have mentioned. The reasons are the following;

Vince Young was going to spend a relaxing day watching television when one of those commercials for Trix cereal came on. Angered by what he saw, Vince Young spent the rest of his, what was supposed to be a relaxing day, punching every child he came across. He would then shout at them, “Trix are for Vince Young.”

Vince Young does not hunt because the word hunting infers the probability of failure. Vince Young goes killing.

Vince Young has already been to Mars; that's why there are no signs of life there.

Vince Young has a word for a person he jukes into a coma; that word is "lucky".

When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night he checks his closet for Vince Young.

Vince Young can touch MC Hammer.

Vince Young travelled back in time and had sex with every nun in a convent tucked away in the hills of Tuscany. Nine months later the nuns gave birth to the 1972 Miami Dolphins, the only undefeated and untied team in professional football history.

A Handicap parking sign in the city of Houston does not signify that this spot is for handicapped people. It is actually in fact a warning, that the spot belongs to Vince Young and that you will be handicapped if you park there.

The sun doesn't actually rise or set. Vince Young simply claps twice.

Achilles was supposedly the greatest warrior of all time, but he died because of his weak spot, the Achilles tendon. There is no Vince Young tendon. You do the math.

Vince Young cloned himself just to see if he could juke himself. The result was the second ice age.

I've herad that all year that there aren't many guys that think of him as their leader. I respect a family guy but most of it came down to the idea that he wasn't making himself better through extra work or film sessions with his teammates.

No Herv, are you saying he is a match for Chuck Norris?

Carr's not going to be a lame duck if the team wins. With some decent coaches the team should win. When Carr called the plays against Arizona the team scored 27 points in a half. While he still had a limited OL, and receivers he did manage to get 27 points. When Joe took over calling the plays the second half they managed 63 yards. I didnt need to see any more to know two things, Carr is probably better than we've seen, and the coaches are awful.

Now you know that would rip a hole in the universe if those two were put in a position opposed to one another. Bad plan HoustonFrog! Bad plan!

I think Carr is a decent QB, but the O-Line in front of him was absolutely brutal this past season. If the Texans wanna stay with Carr at QB, get him a better O-Line.

The fact of the matter is that none of us exist. We are all figments of Vince Young's imagination.

So now you have the fanbase and a part of the team who will be against Carr from the beginning of training camp.Mostly burnt orange fans that will would still be sulking from us not picking Young in the draft. I don't think the team is down on Carr at all, down on the coaches yes, but not on Carr.

The biggest scenario of Carr becoming a lame duck is for us to pick V. Young and have him sit behind Carr, thus squandering Carrs chance to get another playmaker.

Carr has made plenty of mistakes in the last three years and the general populace is still behind him, accept for the extreme VY supporters. The jury will always be out on him until he gets an OL. Until then, he'll have enough support to do his thing.

I always try to write funny stuff in most of my posts but this is one I wish would've thought of 1st. Very funny.

Msg to Hervoyel. You are the master at the VY 1 liners. Plz keep them coming. The avatar is hilarious also.

Possibly. There's a pretty strong chance that David is never going to get his team back. And if Carr is handed that extension on a silver plate and no competition is brought in, he is unlikely to feel the desire to win his team back anyway.

Wins cure what ails you. It's gonna take some time to get the fans back into the groove of the Texans... at least till the opening day game.
