Interesting how no one has mentioned him amidst all of this Carr/Young "discussion". Is he ready to at least step into the #2 spot next season? He looked decent in the preseason. It's really ashame that Capers didn't give him more playing time during this disasterous season just to see what he can do in the real NFL.

Let's say the Texans DO draft Young and make him the QB of the future. If that happens Carr will surely end up somewhere else. Where does that leave Dave Ragone? I am sure this guy wants a shot at starting somewhere. Remember, he was picked ahead of that guy that is starting for Tampa.

I say we trade him for Simms. God that Ragone pick sucked

I'm sure the Bucs will be jumping all over that deal.

Ragone looks like another wasted Casserly draft pick to me. By not playing him at all, we don't know what exactly we have or what his trade value may be.

I figure Banks will continue to be the primary backup and Ragone will just be let go to hook on with another team.

it will probably be:

Carr
Banks
Young

Ragone will probably be traded to Dallas and take them to the playoffs...

I'd say an unused Casserly pick. There was ample opportunity in our stellar 2-14 season to give him a look and see what we have. Good or not, we would now know.

I agree with this post and IMO Ragone was a victim of Capers 'concrete' philosophy, as back up QBs only got to play when Carr got injured. He came out of college as a 3 time MVP offensive player of his conference, played well in Europe (MVP) and played well this preseason. A knock against him is that he doesn't practice well--I don't know--certainly, he would not be the first poor practice player that stepped up in 'prime time.' Kubiak should be able to weed through this situation with Ragone and determine where he does/does not fit into the equation. But, as Runner and other posters have said, we should have had some idea by now...

He deserves a chance, he hasn't had much hype and might just surprise everyone on how good he could be or prove to be just another average or below average QB. He could be another Tom Brady, give the guy a chance.

Ragone, we just don't know what he can do. He, as many others have mentioned, has never been given a chance so it's _really_ hard to know what he can do.

He did very well over here in Europe so perhaps he's a diamond in the rough. yeah yeah, players here suck, but if one can get all boogie woogie about a college players future in the NFL, so should one be able to wiggle wiggle when it comes to a NFL-Europe players future in the NFL :)

I agree. That was the last bonehead move of the season IMO. After that Ram's game, Ragone should have started seeing some PT.
