I would like to say that this year I was able to see every game on TV if not in person. However, I live in Austin and when your team is not the Cowboys and they start losing you aren't going to be given the fancy treatment of seeing your team lose on TV. Instead I have to listen to a sorry 1260 am station that barely picks up the game. This is why I believe Vince Young can only help us.

The fan base would increase largely from Houston to Austin. Most of the fans on this board have been here tsince day one. We sat through 4-12, 5-11, 7-9, and unfortunately 2-12. We sat through bad football that has our QB getting sacked everytime he goes to throw and bad holding and false start penalties.

I understand not wanting to quit on David Carr. Are you really quitting on him though or are you being the class act you are and allowing him to start over from scratch like yourself. We've never been fair to him. Even after he pleaded to the team, we never put the line in front of him to show the skills he still had. Instead we allowed a bad coaching staff to strip him of any pocket awareness he had before he got here. Carr is going to be good but Vince will be a champion. His decision to come to the NFL says that alone. The Heisman was his for the taking with a return to UT. However the individual award is not what satisified him. It was the team trophy in the end that gave him the clear conscience to declare because he fulfilled his promise to his team and community.

Get Vince and sign Carr and Carr's stock will rise higher than it ever will. By trading Carr you are going to be winning for years to come because the value trading Carr will bring. Through that we can get the OL you need for Young because we already have the skill position players. If it takes another year or two, hey us Texans got patience that go back to the Oilers as long as greatness is in store. Right now we see no greatness, just goodness.

Worried about paying Carr 8 mil for three years after we let him go? Don't be, The fan base you will create from Houston to Austin will pay it right back. Carr's trade will allow us to get the vet we need and future lineman in the draft. Also by the time we get out of that deal Vince will be prepared to take on the NFL and dominate it for years to come.

Also, drafting Young eliminates the possibility of him becoming a Pro Bowler on a division rival. I don't know about you but I am so sick of being dominated by our division opponents franchise QB for so long that I am ready to swing back with one of our own.

You say you want our team to have players with outstanding character. Well when a guy gives up the individual award for a bigger challenge, I think it says enough of his character let alone the fact that he consulted with his Mom, family, churhc pastor and God. You will be getting a player with the same character as David, just better leadership which says alot because David has shown tremendous leadership.

In the Rose Bowl 4th quarter, 4th and 5. I saw a QB with such calmness as Elway and Montana. It wasn't just this Rose Bowl, it was the previous one and both this years and last years games. There is a reason he won Rose Bowl MVP twice in a row.

Worried about mechanics? Don't be. Go over any of his games over the last two years. You will see a QB that changed his game from his freshman season. He learned to read defenses and instead of running he looked for pass first. He can read defenses. TEs don't get that many touches and TDs because plays are drawn up for the TE.

Everything is lined up well Bob. He declared before Bush did. You can call him now. Get on the phone and draft him. If we are wrong, us fans will still be fans and we will take it on the chin. But this kid is from our back yard. Do what is right and draft him. We've stuck by you even when the NFL was saying no to you and for these very long four seasons. We deserve it.

Drafting Young also guareentees that Texan fans in Austin will be able to watch the Texans every week. I do believe there is no way that any Austin station wouldn't show Texans game next year whether the Texans are 10-6, or 2-14.

There are 3 top players in this draft, Texans take Young, New Orleans shocks everyone and takes Bush (or vise versa) and the Titans reunite Chow with Lienart (gives him a great headstart). Chances are the Titans will get someone that will cause the Texans problems twice a year for seasons to come.

this argumnet is alot like the one the Lions faced when they drafted Charlie Rogers................great local boy college WR.............and look at how that bombed..................I think the UT homers here are completely blinded and i for one hope you pressure McNair into taking him and leaving Bush for us.

nice sidestep of the question..

Earl is in the Hall of Fame and helped the Oilers reach the AFC championship his 1st and 2nd years with team.

Ricky finished the season strong as a key part of the 6 game win streak to finish the Dolphin's season. Over 300 combined yards in his final 2 starts as the featured back. Yeah, he's back.

I'm not saying you draft Young because you'll be on TV every week in Austin. You still draft who you think is going to help your team the most. All I know is there could be a lot of boos on draft day no matter who you draft.

Bush hasn't declared yet, and there's no guarantee he will. We all assume that he will, but the final say is his and he can always choose to stay on another yr. The Titans have the third pick, but there is no guarantee they will get a player that will kick our *** yet. Also as fierce as the competition is you can't expect any player to come out to get it for us. All you can do is hope he will give the team a better shot and play to the best of his potential. Ricky Williams proved his value when he left. The Dolphins sucked without him. Now that he's back that doesn't guarantee the Dolphins jack, but they have a better shot when he's out there. That is what we want from Young a player that will give us a better shot, one player does not make a team, but that one player can make a difference.

You are obviously not from Houston or Texas Bongo so I don't expect you to understand. However, despite the fact that you think "Early won nothing", he actually did win something, he won over the city of Houston, the state of Texas, and many fans. If it were not for Earl I might not have ever became an Oiler fan. Bush may end up being good but VY has the potential to do for the Texans what Earl did for the Oilers. The fact that he is already a Texas hero like Earl was plays a big role in that, however I personally think he is the best player on the board and besides the great PR, it will be a great football move also.

VY is a once in a LIFETIME football player and leader. You don't just let that go to a division rival, especially the Oilers. If you do, you will regret it everytime he returns home to beat you on your own field. No way. No how.

here we go with the 40 year stuff. you read that off of ESPN also?

Bush is talented no doubt but once in 40 years? that would be 1965 ... hmm Earl Campbell,Tony Dorsett,Bo Jackson,Barry Sanders,Emmit Smith,Shaun Alexander, and the list goes on of talented RB.

IMO Bush is no Bo Jackson.. that man could run with speed and power.

Bush's liability is in the red zone and short yardage.. (hello Marshall Faulk)..

Why take Bush, the guy who got lost the Rosebowl and made bonehead plays? RB is our deepest position. We've drafted plenty of RB's. Let's trade Carr for some draft picks and draft the hometown hero (the next Hakeem, Earl, Roger, Nolan) and some O linemen. Please tell me what is wrong with that scenario.

Yes, pin all your hopes on a RB that hasn't declared yet. How are Leinart and Bush closer than Young when they got trounced by his team. Your 2 favorite guys on the same team couldn't overcome Young's team. Tell me why, if your guys are so great howcome they didn't put it away when they had the chance.

LOL! Maybe you should Google 'Vince Young' and see how he has matured in the last 3 years and what he has done in the biggest games on the biggest of stages. While your at it go count the comebacks. Then go and research what the kid does on his free time while other college kids are doing other things. Maybe pick up this weeks SI and learn a thing or 2.

Its not athletic talent that defines VY and this seems to be what so many can't grasp...

That is what I am saying. I can't even tell you all his stats. What I can tell you is that Texas' receiving corp isn't the best and Vince turned them into pretty good ones this year. I know UT has had times where they are getting it handed to him and Vince makes a play and all of a sudden the whole defense responds and starts kicking tail.
