I am one that feels Houston is in the best situation. I believe drafting Bush would be good, I believe drafting Young would be good and I believe trading down and getting more picks or some better veterans would be a big help as well.

I wanna get Vince if he comes out but part of me doesn't. See, I believe Carr has never been given the chance to succeed. From the very start, he has been bound by the coaching staff and even though he complained, he never got the protection needed for him to be a successful QB. I would kinda hate to see him go just to start all over with another rookie qb. However I just know I wanna get Vince because of his strong leadership and calmness under pressure that he has displayed. Many people say it was just one game but it wasn't. It was done time and again, Michigan last year, Ohio St, OK St, and USC this year.

How do I deal with this????

I will say this though. Can anyone please go back to the game and watch. I believe it was the second to the last drive. When pressured with blitz packages, Vince Young did struggle. USC stopped blitzing him and paid the price for it. I sometimes think that his Oline is way better than ours is and know that he is going to be blitzed over here all day.

Sit tight and be patient. Once we get our new HC, we'll have a good idea of his offensive philosophy and the direction we'll most likely take in the draft.

We don't drive the bus, so we might as well enjoy the ride, 'eh? :ok:

I'm down with whatever decisions Mr. McNair makes, simply because what other choice do I have? At least he fired Capers, and we have some kind of compensation for a 2-14 season with the no. 1 pick. Nice place to be after the worst football season in recent H-town memory.

people Vince Young had 1 great game yes, against a defense that was not ranked top 20 in the counrty. Look critically at him and think. He is a junior and only had about 1 solid year of success. He is wiry and he isn't as fast as vick or mcnabb he will not run the 40 in under 4.45 and will need to be a much better pocket passer cause in the NFL Freeny and Peppers will be on him every night and he isn't outrunning them.

He needs another year of college to work on his passing cause he isn't going to be Vick when he comes into the league. he is more lean than solid like Culpepper he will be a decent NFL QB but it seems after that one game everyone has anointed him god.

take a breath get some perspective and evaluate on everything not one monster game

a couple of big misconceptions there.

1. Vince Young is not wirey. See him in person and you will be amazed. built like a mack truck at 6'5 235

2. 1 solid year of success? hes the all-time total yards leader at UT, pretty amazing for 1 year, no?

3. isnt as fast as mcnabb? are you flippin serious??? I think its YOU that has only watched one game.

4. once again you call him "lean not solid like culpepper" yet its pep that it chubby and Vince that has like 5% body fat.

5. I would pay 20$ to see freeney or peppers chase down vince young. They are very athletic for their size, but they arent chasing down RB's from behind. freeney is only 30lbs heavier than vince.

and finally, the one big game comment... where have you been? Vince has been doing this the past 2 years. He is the only player in NCAA history to throw for 3000 yards and run for 1000, no one has ever thrown for even 2500 and run for 1000, thats how good hes been.

This wasnt even the best game hes ever had. you need to watch more college football if you're going to give analysis of a player

I feel your pain, man, and I understand how a lot of you must feel out there who think that VY won the Rose Bowl and suddenly every Texans fan wants him as QB for no other reason than the fact that he destroyed USC to win the Rose Bowl.

But I think it is more developed than that. For most of this year, there have been many people on the boards displaying their desire for Young in 06. "I know, it looks real good." A lot of Horns fans have been watching him for years. And many of us thought Young was dead-on for staying at UT his senior year. We were excited and jubilant that VY and the Texas Longhorns won the National Championship (Hook 'em Horns, btw). But then Vince made some after-game comments that sounded like he wasn't so sure. I think that is what is causing the commotion. If he decides to stay at UT, then by January 15 all this will die down. If he elects to enter the draft, let the chaos continue!

And it wasn't just 1 great game. If it was just 1 game, it'd be all hype. This kid has destroyed some good defenses who were anticipating him and still could not shut him down.

One more thing. I think that staying at UT could hurt him. Not so much in terms of maybe having a bad game and losing the Heisman/Championship. I mean in terms of coaching. UT's hands off approach may be working now, but VY is not a god and needs some coaching. With some good QB coaches like Kubiak at Houston, that may be his incentive to enter the draft. Something to think about.

30-2 as a starter (Counting the Rose Bowl) ..... Thats a lot more than One Season of success .

He's also the most efficient QB in College Football throwing the ball .... Not running it.

Ill go so far as to say he wont elevate the Texans to a play-off team NEXT SEASON (Pending he comes out and the Texans draft him) ... But down the road ....:twocents:

Then again No Single player coming out would do so .... this team has too many holes .:brickwall

Agreed. He needs to come out now. The zone read and the spread offense is gimmicky and won't work in the NFL. His development needs to start now. There is now way Mack Brown will have him play under center. It would also be a good time to fix his throwing motion, if necessary.

This thread started out fun, and turned serious. People, the draft is months away, and we have plenty of time for debate. Let's have at least one thread for fun. That being said, I'm still in for Snarfee McGee with the first pick. He sounds like a beast(ly cat). If you have no idea what I'm talking about, just ignore me, I'm cool with that.

Please remember that Young gets his own coaching in the offseason as well when he attends Steve Mcnair's QB's Camp. If you actually watched Vince Young throughout his UT career you will notice he has had a signifcant increase in his pocket presence and reading defenses.

Obviously there are some people posting here that have NOT watched Vince throughout his career...ONE MONSTER GAME...are you kidding me?? And it was very good for someone to finally bring up the fact that it has been Steve "Air" Mcnair that has been his personal mentor and tutor.

I cant believe all the people jumping on the VYj bandwagon and all the posters that are just repeating what ESPN is saying about him....lets just remember that it was ESPN that NEVER gave Texas or VY a chance against USC or any of the past great college teams....and look where that got them after the final seconds ticked off the clock in the Rose Bowl. :twocents:

In the Rose Bowl the play that stood out to me the most was 1 were USC blitzed. Young droped back and I believe USC sent 6 rushers. One got young by the legs, the other hit him in the chest. Before being brought to the ground Young found an open reciever and hit him for a first down. It was like the USC defenders ran into a brick wall. That was the play that made me start to think about Young being under center for our Texans. With that being said, I wouldnt mind seeing Bush in our backfield either. I also wouldnt mind us trading down and getting a plethora of draft picks in return. What to do what to do... This is going to be a fun offseason for sure!
