just wanted to start a thread where we all share our thoughts on the texans first coach.

i liked the guy, always really professional during interviews and even when he did the show on 610. looks like a truely nice guy and best wishes go out to the guy. In a perfect world this guy would stay on as the d coordinator for the texans, kinda sad to see him go.

From all I've ever heard from people that actually know Coach Capers he's a wonderful person to work for and a gentleman. John McClain said he's the nicest coach he's ever worked around and is always accessible to the press.

Coach Capers has been around the league a long time and knows these jobs are here today, gone tomorrow so I imagine he'll handle anything that happens with grace and class.

Great guy but winning football games is what sells tickets. Dom is stubborn to a fault in terms of loyalty to a system and to his buddies. Next year we will be talking about Dom the coordinator and his great defense - wherever he ends up - and wondering why it didn't work here.

Don't you think this is a little premature. I think I'll wait until next week to see if a response is even necessary.

Dom is a great person and there's no doubt that if this business was based on how much character you had he would be tops but in the end it's all about wins and losses. I'm not going to say goodbye yet because regardless of what the fans and media think and say he hasn't been fired yet.

Anybody watch Cold Pizza this morning? Was listening from another room and the guy they have on every week with the "inside scoop" is saying Capers is gone, Casserly is staying, Reeves wants to stay as head coach but McNair isn't having it, supposedly wants someone else for some reason, but wants an offensive minded coach, I might not have got it all, but take it all for what it's worth...

To take the calls as he did after the hard season is a heck of a stand-up guy, especially the calls like "what do you think of Kubiak as your replacement?"... and he took it in stride.

A great guy, however - the team needs a strong head coach, not a true friend (if given the option between two) as noted - wins are what counts. Hopefully he realizes his limitations, and strengths, and goes back to what he did better - defense coordinator.

Good luck Dom, if you are indeed heading out, thanks for starting up our team.

Forget offensive minded coach, I would like to see us go after Gregg Williams from the Redskins. He is the best cadidate to become the next Bill Belichick. He is a defensive guy, but he just needs to assemble a top notch staff for the offensive side of the ball.

Oh, why of course we will, being in such state of denial about the overabundance of overwhelming talent we have on the defensive side of the ball on this team.

I hope Parcells hires him for DC for the Cowboys. I'd like to see what he could do with Demarcus Ware.

Dom is truly a class act but unfortunately he and everyone else on the staff is the Game Face of one of the most miserable sports seasons I can ever recall. I can't think of ever being glad when football season was over, but I quess there's a first for everything. If I was a drinking man it might be easier to handle, but since I'm not I quess I can take up snorting concrete so I can be stoned.

I would like to have a coach like Herm Edwards or even Jim Fassel. To me it is depressing to listen to Dom after the game say the same thing for after every loss. I think we learned somthing today and now we will make adjustments for next week. Then next week the same poor performance and he says the same thing. Give me a coach that has some passon for the game. Have you seen Edwards talk after games? Do you remember Fassel gaurentee the Giants will make the playoffs and then take it all the way to the Super Bowl.

I remember Bum promising to "kick the door down" too, ... but they didn't.

Just because they say it doesn't mean it will happen. You still have to have the players, coaches, and the scheme to make it happen.

I would think he'd make a good DC since he did that before and was successful. I've also wondered if Coach Capers might want to try a college job.

I have to agree. I don't think he will be ousted. But I believe some of his assistants might get the axe. I'll wait and see what happens also.

If anyone is interested, I have some land for sale out in West Texas, cheap. The rocks are about 175 degrees and glow for some reason but it sure is handy for cooking food and lighting up the area at night when you can't find any wood for a fire.

LINK (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5202040)

Texans (2-13) at Niners (3-12)

This would normally be the Dog of the Week, crawling with fleas as it is, but there's more at stake in this one than in 10 of the 16 games on this week's slate.

If you're Dom Capers and you know you're about to be fired, wouldn't you like to stick it to the boss by costing him Reggie Bush on your way out the door?

Last week, it looked like the loser of this game would definitely land Bush, but Mike Nolan's Niners lost the plot and pulled off a comeback win in St. Louis. Now, if the Niners lose, the pick will probably go to the Saints.

The Saints will have already been whipped by Tampa Bay when Houston and San Francisco kick off so New Orleans' fans will be rooting like crazy for the Texans.

I doubt Foxsports has any inside dirt about Capers getting fired. They're just assuming he's going to get fired because, well, he sucks, and he's more than likely going to be fired if there's any justice in the world.

I'm sure he's a nice guy, but so is Steve Mariucci. But being nice isn't a requisite to being a good coach. I'd much rather have a mean but good coach than a nice but crappy coach.

John McLain stated on 610 Sports Radio yesterday evening that teams would be lining up for him to be their defensive coordinator! Let them have him!

I've read the same thing and not from John McClain. Coach Capers will be a sought after DC. I don't imagine he's holding out any hope he'll be back as coach here next year; I think he's smart enough to see the writing on the wall.

Good guy who might end up being a HC somewhere else next year. Detriot? But more likley as a DC and you know I'd be happy if he came back to Houston in that role as long as Kubiak is the next HC.

I doubt if CC will be staying hes made too many personnel mistakes. It would be likely that Dom stays with Reeves as the next GM.

That's what I'm afraid of.

I can take Dom or leave him, but Casserly MUST go before draft day!

I'd didn't work here because Charlie Casserly gave him nothing to work with. Dom has proven that he can coach a talented team. He never had that luxury here. We have nothing but a bunch of scrubs and has-beens because Casserly likes to waste picks getting cute on draft day.

I disagree with those who think Casserly is going to stay. The hiring of Dan Reeves was about the biggest thing McNair could've done to express his dissatisfaction with Casserly's performance outside of firing him.

I'm still optimistic Casserly will be fired at the end of the season. Thank goodness!

GO TEXANS!!!

The guy never got anything done when good statistics were kicking him in the chin. I truly believe they thought they were doing the right thing when they made some really, really bad moves last year when they were on an upward trend, really. (Who is this guy named Greenwood, anyway? I haven't heard from him all year. Buchanon - did I spell that right? WHO CARES!) I would say Dom doesn't know both sides of the ball, and the only thing he has done for David Carr is make him a legend for toughness - they will talk about his sack record for the next twenty years, whether or not Dave-O gets a chance to be a good NFL QB. Andre will always refer to this as his lost year. Take away the bad moves to improve the D, give them a better O-line, a decent TE, second receiver and an OC, we could be talking in future tense about the man. And the ticker to it all is they could have done all that in the last few years. Easily. This is self destruction. No pity - now matter how nice the man is and how much some players respect him.
