Ok.. I been hearing so many talk about throwing games or we are on track for Bush. What a bunch of crap. Lets talk about the deal.

If we were throwing games, the people who ARE EMPLOYED now with the Texans have a good chance to lose thier jobs next year. If I am making 250k or above, I aint going down like that, and they, with pride and copetive nature wont either.

In addition, Morale of a team losing games begins to take its toll on the mental for the players. We dont want to get players USED to losing. I expect our players to come out and play 110% every play, every series, and every game.

Those rooting for us to lose. Shame on you. By showing your support for a player who we might not pick up anyways is sad and horrible for you. But to make it worse, your wishing the team ill, you all, should be quite ashamed to be called fans.

The last 3 games, I have been really sad. I am not worried about Bush, or Lienhart, or who ever. I am worried about how our team feels. How this was our year, and how 3 times, they have had to face a defeat which was hard to swallow week, after week.

Come On Texans - The time for Bull Tipping is over, Its Gore Time!

This team only knows how to lose. It looks like they are losing on purpose now, but you might be right (on them trying to win). If you are, they really stink. If they really are competitors, they would try to win in the pre-season too, but they don't. Capers must go with that I don't care if we win attitude. He only cares that we had a chance to win.

I have faith in our players. Sadly, they are not winning, but they have had the chance to win the last 3 games, instead of being blown out of the water as it was before. Yes, a loss is a loss, but they are losing right now because they cannot capitialize on thier chance to win. IF we were able too, and won the last 3 games, we would be in line for a 7 and 9 year again.

That was one of the strangest finishes to a game I have ever seen considering the circumstances and I'm not going to completely rule out the idea that the Texans have a handful of coaches and players who might be trying to throw games. I'm not saying that the Texans are throwing games, just that I think if I were in the Commissioners office I'd have someone do a little preliminary investigation. It's very suspicious.

Yes many of the coaches and some of the players are in danger of losing their jobs. That's going to happen whether we finish with 4-5 wins or whether we lose out the rest of the way. I think that one thing to keep in mind is that you don't need 53 guys and an entire coaching staff to affect the outcome of a game. You could do that with a handful of guys and maybe one or two coaches if you wanted to.

I'd investigate because the Texans looked very guilty yesterday. If for no other reason than to say I checked it out and found nothing I'd look into it.

The Texans have lost 17 games in their history by 7 points or less. Capers does not put teams away. I honestly believe that we should have had a wild card slot already. Even games we have lost by more than 7 points, I remember something screwed up and cost us the game we could have won.

The Texans are so inept that it wouldn't take much to nudge the final outcome of just about any game in one direction or another.

Look at the game again. The Titans are not as bad as they played either. Also Fisher would have jumped that dude for catching the kickoff just before it went out of bounds if he cared about winning. Who has ever seen a player try to tiptoe the sideline on a kickoff catch? Also Stanley hasn't had as many bad kicks in years as he has had the past few weeks.

Maybe if we had a game-breaker type of player on the team we would have won more close games.

Just a thought.

But, Houston football teams in our roller coaster years have always had coaches that beat the heck out of someone until they get a late lead and then they go 3 and out enough times to lose the game. Capers is one of these coaches and is just too predictable.

Which is why you need a player, who even when being conservative can extend the lead.

Nobody is throwing any games since all the players resume (and next contract) is on game film.

What is sad is that a segment of our football fan base has embraced losing like the Bengals fans did year after year rooting for draft slots more than wins. We are now officially a joke across the league, from the team to our own fans who want us to blow.

Oh come on Vinny, I don't want us to blow. I just want us to blow slightly more than the San Francisco 49ers. Does that make me an evil fan or a bad fan? Just because I see that there is nothing good that can come from this season at this point?

The coach is gone and so are his coordinators. That tells me that their systems are probably going to be gone as well. Whoever we bring in is going to want to run their offense and their defense so you can pretty much throw out whatever these guys learned in the past four years under Dom Capers and crew. It's day one all over again.

I'd love for the Texans to win the next three games... just as long as San Francisco wins at least two of their three as well. Oh yeah and Green Bay keeps up their late season winning....and the Jets do the same thing.

See, it's like the "Reverse Playoffs"! I can't get excited about the playoffs because my team is so far away from them that there's no point in even speculating on when they'll get there. I can get excited about the Reverse Playoffs though. We're the front runner there.

Absolutely - Breuner stated this unequivocally on a radio interview a couple of weeks ago. It doesn't make sense that there are any players who think it is worth it to tank, get better players, and end up making less money in the future because of poor play or getting replaced outright. I don't think any of them feel so indebted to this franchise to make such a noble sacrifice.

I'm not aiming the comment at any one individual Herv but all this rooting for us to be bad makes me ill....I have been a Houston football fan since the back to back 1-13 years of the Oilers and we were a National joke for years (mainly for LOSING and being LOSERS of course - nobody patted us on the head pridefully for getting a great draft slot). It takes much more than draft slots to fix teams this bad. Rooting for us to stay bad each week by losing just strikes me as a lame, losers mentality.

While I see what you are saying I respectfully diagree. At this point it is best for the future of our franchise to lose. The losing attitude and environment will be gone along with Capers. Once he and his staff are gone a new coach will bring a breath of fresh air and a new attititude to the franchise.

You really think it will make a difference for the players if they finish 3-13 vs. 1-15? It's an AWFUL, HORRIBLE season either way. At least if you get the #1 pick and draft Reggie Bush and a get new coaching staff the city and remaining players will be excited again and have fresh start next season.

And I'll tell you what, Bob McNair better do something to get fans excited about this team again... Bush and a new coach would be a GREAT start...

Well, from one old Oiler fan to another let me say that I feel for you... but I can't reach you. ;)

We're bad. We're really, really bad from the front office to the guy bringing out cups of Gatorade. We stink, we suck, we blow. THIS I know how to deal with. THIS I've seen before. I know it intimately because it's the Houston football experience.

Sure it's usually Columbia Blue and there is usually a fat man in a bad rug to blame but other than those missing details this is just like it's always been.

None of us wanted this. We thought it would be different with a new owner who spared no expense and who seemed dedicated to changing our towns football fortune. I take my hat off to Bob McNair for doing everything in his power to keep it from being the way it is but looking back it was always a bit of a pipe dream anyway.

Dom Capers? From the moment they hired Dom Capers we should all have felt that gnawing in the pit of our stomach. Proven success? Winner? Nope. Dom was the kind of guy Bud would have hired.

Charlie Casserly? We all watched the moves and we wondered about things. By the end of 2002 I was beginning to worry about the kinds of decisions Casserly was making but I kept drinking the Kool Aid and so did most of us.

Now here we are coming to the end of an ugly 2005 season. Somewhere back around week 4 I said that my nightmare had come true and we were the Cleveland Browns. Now I just want it over and I don't care about these games. I don't care if they win them or if they lose them I just care about the tearing down of this mess and about watching carefully as they rebuild it. If I so much as catch a whiff of something fishy about how the Texans go about putting together this next staff and version 2.0 of this team I'm out.

The Oilers had my heart from an early age and I couldn't get free of them even if I tried. They were in my blood. The Texans are different. I know what being a fan of a lousy team is like and I won't do it again. I can take a few years of building and the inevitable rebuilding that must come but to hell with being a fan of ineptitude. I'll never do that again. Rebuild it McNair and I'll come back but if we're rebuilding again in another two or three years then you won't get me back and I won't be alone.

At this point I think its more of a "you can either laugh or you can cry". Pulling for a draft pick is just a strange way of covering up the disappointment.

Also, I think a good head coach will help this team next year much, much more than a high draft pick.

I think leadership will go a long way toward helping this team. The problem is where do we get it? Your big money guys - Todd Wade, Greenwood are terrible. Carr is no leader. DD's quiet. Peek makes too many mistakes. Drob is becoming one. Walker's old. Payne never speaks. Andre talks as if he's in trouble.

Our coaches are lost. Casserly has 'no comment.'

Where are our leaders going to come from? I think you have to get a DOMINANT Jimmy J, Parcells-ish, Herm Edwards, type of pure leader to coach here. Then, maybe some leaders will step up.

You never know. There are a lot of bad teams in the NFL right now and a new coach, plus a game-breaker, could make a big difference. I wouldn't be shocked to see us go 8-8 next year.

I truly don't see much difference between a 5 win season and a 2 win season. Both are equally miserable IMO. I'd like for the Texans to have the first pick in the draft in 2006 whether it's to trade for more picks or select Reggie Bush but this is a relatively recent development and I would have much preferred an 8-8 or better season.

I went into this season with a lot of hope and both expected and wanted the team to win more than they lost this year. When that didn't happen I didn't immediatly go to work cheering for them to lose so we could get Reggie Bush. My focus first went to seeing Dom Capers and his assistants sent packing and I think we're far past the point of that happening. It's considered a given at this point. Now I want them to have a shot at the #1 pick. No apologies and it doesn't have much of anything to do with next season or what I want the team to do in next years draft.

I've always said and still maintain that there's not nearly as much wrong with this team as most people think. Nothing that a truly outstanding coaching staff couldn't fix in a year or two and at most a couple of drafts. I still believe that.

I believed that this year the Texans would be a .500 team. what happen'ed  starting with a terrible end to last season, less than spectacular free agent aquisitions, no 2nd rd pick and loss of a 3rd rd. pick the last two years running because of trades make it very difficult to improve, harder than most of us ever imagined. I believe that Casserly has to take the blame and he's not. thats the type of leadership that losing programs are made of, Capers is just the scapegoat :dangit:

Ever since game 1 against the bills i knew that the texans was going to suck all year since i knew that the bills where not going to do good this year and i just knew that they would make the steelers game close but noooooo they cant move down the field. These past 3 games is just stupid mistakes by the players & the coaches calls on some of them. Not very smart coaching and not a very smart team so far imo.

I, for one, would like to see David Carr get some competition next season. There's no reason why he shouldn't be looked at as part of our offensive woes, too, along with coaching and the OL. Say what you will about protection, I haven't seen him do anything great when he's got time to throw the ball.

I good free agent QB signing would be something to consider. If Carr steps up and finally plays like a franchise QB does, mission accomplished. If he starts throwing passes at cheerleaders and loses his job to the new guy, mission accomplished. I don't think it's fair to stick everyone else up on the chopping block and not him.

You guys will be getting Reggie Bush, and you dont have to trade down as a top o-lineman like Marcus Mcneil could be in the second. You guys got extremely lucky at the depth at O-line in this draft. I believe you guys with a new coach could be a 8-8, 9-7 team next year. Dont forget what the dolphins are doing with very little right now.

As far as this thread, Guys EVERYONE is talking about you guys tanking this game. Go to any message board and all you see are threads about it. The Texans are so inept that it wouldn't take much to nudge the final outcome of just about any game in one direction or another.

Well I watched replay of Pacman's TD on ESPN's NFL Primetime, it showed an uncalled illegal block to back which would have nullified the TD, I seem to recall other games where blown calls (Cincinatti-fumbled pass) have cost Texans a chance to win, so is it bad officiating, black cloud, morale or just plain bad luck...not sure but if we had won close games we would be on pace for a 7-9 or 8-8 season. I think we need to get off players backs and stop cheering for Reggie" I don't want to play in Texas" Bush..He said (on Dan Patrick's radio show) and I quote "I want to play in New York or San Francisco"...for all your cheering, Reggie finding us at #1 may stay in college another year.

Right on.
Not to mention, if Mathis wasn't facemasked on the last kick off return he would have scored, I guess the special teamer on Tennesse was working with our players involved in the conspiracy to help set-up the missed field goal by Brown.

And the Refs must want us to have Bush too, since they didn't call the illegal block in the back on Stanley when Pacman Jones scored.
