View Full Version : Marciano. The only coach worth anything.

Marciano has done an amazing job with special teams on both sides of the ball. If it is one coach we do not let go, let it be him.

Hell, fire capers now...let Marciano finish the season as head coach till we get the replacement. Did you see the "Care" from this guy? He tries and runs down the sideling with Mathis as Mathis burns everyone. Ha.

hrm.. looking at Marciano's pedigree.. I dunno that he is HC material.

Dont get me wrong.. I love his passion and he is definatly my favorite texans coach..and the only guy that I would be upset to see leave.

But, in his 19 years in the NFL.. he has never coached anything but special teams..or tutored tight ends. That strikes me as a very limited education in football, by comparison.

I mean, im sure he knows a heck of alot more than me or alot of other folks :)..but normally, the HC was either a DC or an OC at some point.. someone who was directly involved in the playcalling and game planning. Im not sure how much a special teams coach is involved in that. Special Teams coaches, i think, are like the Kickers on football teams. Needed, celebrated for their successes, appreciated.. but not exactly what you would call "a REAL football player".. or in this case "a REAL coach".

Thats kinda harsh.. cause he is definatly a great coach.. but hopefully you get what im saying.

That may be part of our problem, spending too much time analizing resumes.
Did you see Marciano go nuts last night when Mathis scored that TD ? That
sort of thing is not found on resumes, but its what we need to get some guys
fired up. I hope McNair was paying attention, because you can bet some
other NFL talent scouts were.

Look where the coaches that came from OC and DC positions have got us...surely we couldn't do any worse.

eh.. getting fired up is great and id love to see it in our next HC.. but it isnt the most important trait in an HC.

If all you needed was someone with passion for the game to be the HC.. we have a whole bullpen full of candidates.

As for our current coaches coming from OC and DC positions.. well.. they were also castoffs from other teams... people that failed elsewhere and we decided to give them another shot. There is a REASON why they got fired from their past jobs.

Marciano and Hoke are the two coaches that are not castoffs, but are guys that succeeded at their last job for that matter succeeded at almost all their jobs. It is disturbing how little we use talent on the field or off.

I think we should fire Capers NOW. The team has given up. Marciano will give the Texans a spark for the rest of the year and give us something to work for next year.
