Who would you want to have as the quarterback of the Texans, Mike Vick or David Carr?

Knowing what we know now regarding his injuries the past two year or if both were 100%??

With injuries. Carr
100%. Vick.

Let's see a poll with Peyton Manning & David Carr. We have an equal chance of obtaining Manning as we do Vick. Is LaDainian Tomlinson or Domanick Davis your next poll?

Carr hands down. Not being biased either. I just think I would want a QB who knows he is a QB, not a QB who doesn't know he's not a RB...

Vick is going to get himself hammered 1 day and really hurt and then the Falcons will be in our shoes ... :twocents:

Just getting a feel for who knows what is going on. And to see what people's answer will be to my next poll.

With the Texans O-Line, Mike Vick would have won more games.

The answer to that question is simple ..... Vick .

He's an enigma at the QB position . I dont think ANY player has come into the NFL and changed the nature of his position more than Vick ..... There may never be another player like him but EVERY team in the NFL will be looking for the next Vick .

Vick would have been ours if he stayed for his Junior year.

Vick made it clear that he WAS NOT going to play for an expansion team . Call him a prophet cause he knew what David Carr was going to go thru and stated as much .

I think Carr is more a product of the system and players around him than his talent level . He has never been put into a situation to succeed . Given the opportunity and a few players around him I think he will become a solid NFL QB .... but not in the class of M. Vick .

Sorry to bump an old thread here, but I couldn't help but get a chuckle over this thread, especially in light of the recent news regarding vick.

Say whatever you will about Carr's QB skills, at LEAST you know when he's flying out of the IAH, you aren't going to have to worry about him stashing Mary J in his water bottle.

He's gonna need something a lot stronger than the Leaf if he's going to Oakland..

Everyone wants what they can't have.

I pick vick just becuase he is more mobile and he won't get sacked as much behind our offensive line. If we had a good offensive line, than I would say Carr.

If both the Falcons and Texans were to put their QBs on the trading block today, who do you think would get more offers? :hmmm:

Vick has played in an NFC Championship game (as well as won the first playoff game by an opponent in Green Bay).

Carr has....been sacked the most of any QB in a five season period. Of course it's not his fault - never is - because everybody else on the Texans is to blame....or so it goes.

Sounds a little one sided like your trying to push us one way.:)

Vick- We have seen all Vick has to offer, he has peeked some what, what else is there that he has not shown everyone. He has been on more talented teams then Carr. We have not seen everything that Carr can do un like Vick. He rushed for 1,000 as a QB and their record was what? Cause he cant throw the ball (I take that back) he tries to run more then pass, and he loves the weed. And is not affriad to through teammates under the bus and complian about coaches, IT sounds like it is everyone elses fault in Atlanta besides Vick. Carr shuts his mouth (complianing wise) does his job and THEY FO ask him back and give him extentions, DC never says/said a word, "you want me back fine lets go."

Believe me or not, but do you know Vicks "Out of the pockett QB rating was 2nd to lowest? Guess whos was 1st, D.Carr. I get that special previlage of getting stats like that. :)

Nope, no agenda on my part and not trying to push anyone in any given direction.

And I don't disagree with what you're saying, either.

My perspective is that at this point in time, Vick has not suffered from 250+ sacks in 5 seasons. That has got to take a toll on a QB, and it seems that certain response tendencies have been pounded into DC that can be detrimental to making good QB decisions.

If Carr had been drafted by an established team, do I think his career would be in a different status? YES! If you switched both guys and put Carr in ATL, I think he would have found success. But with Vick's mobility, I don't think he would have set sack records in Houston, either.

I do not take away from DC's rushing abilities, but he does not have that elusive quality like Vick has (I mean, who does really?). It could even be argued that Carr has a better arm, but the difference is what they do with those arms. DC has a flight tendency from too many sacks, while Vick has a flight tendency because he relies on his legs more than his arm.

But none of this still answers my original question: If both the Falcons and Texans were to put their QBs on the trading block today, who do you think would get more offers?

Please don't tell me that 31 other teams don't know what they're talking about, either. What they are worth on an open market clearly indicates the reality of how NFL experts view both QBs.

how is this even close....I mean I don't think Vick is one of the best QB's in the NFL, but he's waaaay ahead of David Carr.

I said Carr. But only if he was on a different team. In a different system he may be good. I don't think Mike Vick will ever be good in any system.

Okie dokie.

Franchise Killer VS Coach Killer. Great.

Let's see... I have to assume you mean offers for a starting job, because as a backup offer the landscape would change a bit.

I count about 14 teams that would make an offer. With some rather dubious teams tossed in there like the Browns and the Lions.

Will toss out the fact that both McNair and Arthur would rather have their repsective left testicle removed then part with their respective QBs... and both have hired and fired coaches based on their sole promise to make their QBs potential flower.

Do some calculations now...
Punch up some numbers...
yep.

Vick by a landslide.

With Carr you will have to hire new coach, get new system, 5 or 6 new offensive linemen, 3 WRs, 2 TEs, find 3 decent RBs, and be in biometrically harmonious alignment with nature to make him worth it.

With Vick... you just replace all the expensive WRs with cheap FBs and then from there on, it's like plug 'n' play. Just keep running on them until you wear out the opponent's LB corps. Of course he will drink more then his share of team's water supply and all... but you know, that stuff is cheaper than gas nowadays anyway.

Just because Vick was going to Canada to visit an old running back friend, Ricki Williams, doesn't mean he had any Mary J with him, LOL... :hides:

I voted for Vick when this poll came out. In light of Vick's recent incident at the airport, I would now change my vote to "NEITHER."

The problem with an NFL player liking mary jane is that if he fails a drug test, it's a 4 game suspension. The next time, it's a one year suspension, and so forth. That's too big of a risk to take with your starting QB, which is why Dallas got rid of Quincy Carter post haste a couple of seasons ago.
