IMO the two positions that the Texans need help with the most is LT and LB.
So trade back to the 8-12 range and get a second this year and a first rounder next year. I think most teams will do this to try to get Lienart or Bush.
1a. Ahmad Brooks, AJ Hawk
We Need help on the oline so trade a second and a third to get back into the middle of the first round.
1b. best LT
2. LG Davin Joesph, TE Leonard Pope, C Greg Eslinger in that order.
3. TE Tim Day, C Donovan Riola, TE Dominique Byrd in that order. Also depends on round 2
4. Spencer Havner, Andre Caldwell
5. Aaron Harris

after watching the uva/fsu game we have to take ferguson. the guy will make our team dramatically better. he will do much more for our team than reggie bush, vince young, or matt leinart. all three of those guys succeed because they have the best OL's in the ncaa. they will suck if they play for the texans. we already have some good players. we need to give them the protection that they deserve.

Agreed. Our first 2 or 3 rounds should be directed towards the O line/offense, linemen and TE should be a priority for us either in the draft or free agency. Both offense and defense start at the line.

OLINE it!!!

Texans fans have heard it all before, but the upcoming draft does hold promise

SEATTLE The Texans could be playing a bowl at San Francisco on the last day of the season.

Based on the way the Texans have played leading up to the quarter mark of the season, their New Year's Day game against the 49ers could become the Toilet Bowl to determine who gets the No. 1 pick in the draft.

Going into tonight's nationally televised game at Seattle, the Texans are the only NFL team without a victory.

Before training camp, owner Bob McNair said he expected the Texans to compete for the playoffs. With 12 games remaining, they're competing for the top pick.

Of the four teams that have won only one game, the Texans play three of them San Francisco, Arizona and Baltimore.

Because of the year-round interest in the draft, it's never too early to look ahead, especially when your team leads the sweepstakes for the first pick.

Rob Rang, a senior analyst for NFLDraftScout.com has some good news for Texans fans.

"This is shaping up as an outstanding draft for offensive left tackles," Rang said Friday. "Although we've got a long way to go before the draft and so many things can happen, right now, it looks like as many as five seniors could be taken in the first round.....

..The top five senior left tackles are Virginia's D'Brickashaw Ferguson (6-5, 298), Auburn's Marcus McNeill (6-8, 335), Miami's Eric Winston (6-6, 310), Boston College's Jeremy Trueblood (6-8, 328) and Texas' Jonathan Scott (6-6, 310).....

....McNair plans to pay Carr an $8 million bonus that's due before the season ends to extend his contract for three years. Because Carr will be the quarterback next season, rule out USC's Matt Leinart.

If coach Dom Capers returns, he'll be playing a 3-4 defensive scheme again. If Capers is fired, the new coach will probably play a 4-3, which means the Texans will be desperate for at least one end who specializes in getting the quarterback, as well as classic 4-3 middle linebacker.....

....What the Texans need at receiver and tight end are in short supply in the 2006 draft. Oklahoma's Travis Wilson (6-2, 215) is the best senior receiver. Texas Tech's Jarrett Hicks (6-3, 211) is the best junior receiver.

"This is a great draft for linebackers, too," Rang said. "There are some tremendous prospects on the outside."

The best outside linebackers can play in a 3-4 or 4-3. They include Ohio State's A.J. Hawk (6-1, 243) and Iowa's Chad Greenway (6-3, 242).

UTEP's Thomas Howard (6-3, 230) is a senior whose stock is on the rise at outside linebacker.

"The highest-rated ends right now are 4-3 types," Rang said. "And they're good, too."....

Johnny McC's viewpoint (http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/3397523)

... and no trading away multiple picks this year for one person, let's try one person for multiple picks this year, shall we?

As bad as we need oline help I still dont think we should pass up on talent like AJ Hawk, Ahmad Brooks, M kiwanuka.

To me AJ Hawk looks like Lavar Arrington
Ahmad Brooks looks like Ray Lewis
M Kiwanuka looks like J Peppers. He is 6'6

Hopefuly Ahmad Brooks will stay in school. Which I think is possible because of his injury and because their is so much talent in this years draft if he stays in school I think he will get picked much higher in the 07 draft. Ofcourse I want him to stay in school so we can get him and one of the other two guys.
If we do this we can still get a LT in round two and a TE and C in round three.

Also if C Pitts plays good enough at LT then we could get one of the better Guards in round two.

I'd rather sign Lavar Arrington than draft a guy that looks like him...

Why when we can have both. Sign Arrington and draft AJ Hawk.

Vince Young has been playing better, but the lobs he throws aren't going to cut it in the NFL.

If we draft an OT in the draft, I am all for retaining Carr. Maybe we could trade down some spots and draft 2 offensive linemen...

You cant pass rush vince young like you pass rush david carr. Containment is key, if they came at vince like they do carr, he would have a field day.

By the way I am not declaring vince will be good for the texans, or even a good nfl qb.

But some of you saying he cant do this and he cant do that. No one knows with this kid. The sky is the limit. Every time people say he cant do something he proves them wrong. He should be in the top 6 or 7 in the nation in passing efficiency after this past week which is very impressive.

I just would prefer people to stop making ignorant statements about what vince cant do, because that list is alot smaller than the list of what he can do.

Vince Young is now fourth in passing efficiency in NCAA which put him ahead of matt leinhart who is now 8th.

I might agree with drafting Vinny, but not as a QB. As a quality athlete, they might find a spot for him, though. He doesn't have a pro caliber passing game, but he is a pro caliber athlete.
