that might be the most pathetic attempt at blocking i've ever seen. whoever was directly infront of mathis on the return needs to wake up.

I hate little yellow flags.

I guess its a good thing he didnt do anything with the return or we would all be very mad1

I'll be ok if they lose with putting up a good effort on this last series, but if they implode it will only be a snap back to reality.

I'm sorry, I haven't been impressed with this defense this year, and I'm not impressed today.

Palmer has all day to throw, and we let the reciever catch everthing.

Fangio can join Chris Palmer.

Pat B is playing much better today and D Rob is amazing....

I've been born and raised in cincy and I'm certainly a die hard bengals fan... even through the last 20 years...

But I wanted to come on here and tell you guys that you should be proud of how you're playing today. If your offensive line was playing better, you would be up two touchdowns on us right now. You are more or less shutting down the number 3 offense in the red zone and that is very impressive.

For us, it is inexcusable since we have had three years to rebuild. You guys are rebuilding now and you're still right there in it... may end up beating us. Once all your pieces are in place, you will be a very, very good team. Davis is a good combo back like westbrook and carr shows flashes of brilliance. Obviously, you've got something special with johnson...

Win or lose today, be proud to be texan fans and good luck at the end of the fourth quarter here...

midknight
10-02-2005, 02:57 PM
for the guy on the west coast..
Carr was back for a pass, arm was back, arm came forward, but his arm got pulled.. ball went forward, hit a lineman in the back, fell to the ground.. cincinnati falls onthe ball.. refs rule it a fumble.. Capers challenges call.. after many replay angles to prove the ruling wrong.. ref comes back out and says play stands...

OMG!

Hervoyel
10-02-2005, 02:57 PM
I get the whole hand empty coming forward thing and I take back my previous "This is very wrong" post. Honestly, the ball is kind of in Carr's hand but he stops having any control or possession of it before the hand comes forward. It's just coincidentally going in the same direction as Carr's hand.

This game ends as a loss on that note I'm sure. The offense looks sharper but the pass protection is still pathetic. Nothing has really changed this week IMO, I still want this bunch of coaches out the door.

Like I said earlier at least they won't be the butt of every joke this week.

Minnesota, chicago, houston and who else was it arizona? Hardly much competition.

fitting end for Carr, on his backside. can't wait untill all those cincy *****s come over here talking superbowl

Why wouldn't we? 3 of the four teams who were 4-0 last season were the Patriots, Eagles, and the Jets.

Maybe instead of worrying about what Bengals fans are going to be talking about, you should be worrying about what the owner of the Texans is going to do about the coaches calling 5 yard pass plays over the middle with less than a minute left?

You did get ripped off on that call though :tv:

carr went back to pass, arm got hit, arm moved forward.. ball hit lineman inthe back and fell to the ground. cincy fell on it, and refs ruled it a fumble. Replay comes in, they look at it.. many angles confirming incomplete pass.. ref comes out and says call on the field stands..
they still ruled it a fumble...

bull.. even the announcers couldn't believe it..

Carr got sacked seven times today if I'm not mistaken. That makes what? 20?

20 sacks and 24 points for the season. Does anyone really think things got better today?I do. Pendry's offense and Palmer's offense ran the same plays but were night and day. The contrast was stark...and I didn't think (previously) Palmer was the big problem.....now it looks like he was one of the big problems...now we just have one fewer problems...but still have problems. We couldn't do much with Casserly's drafting and FA pickups today though...we have the same players.

Nope. The last sack you could MAYBE pin on him, but the previous one was entirely on the offensive line. Carr should have all day when the defense is in the prevent.

Cincy barely beat us and were 0-3, they haven't beaten anyone with any kind of credibilty...they might have the easiest schedule in the league so far.
Minnesota, chicago, houston and who else was it arizona? Hardly much competition.

The Vikings don't have any credibility? We picked off a QB 5 times, who would have been the MVP last season if it weren't for the inability of the Texans to stop Peyton Manning from throwing TD's.

The Browns held the Colts to what, 13 points? Maybe 14?

The Bears have the best defense in the league. No credibility?

Houston has a great defense, and we beat them.

It's not like we started out against he Lions, Cardinals, Rams, and Saints.

Those teams suck :ok:

They held the best offense in the league to 16 points, and almost shut down Chad Johnson. They made Carson Palmer look like David Carr at some points. Rudi had a pretty quiet day.

A great defense? Yea, you lost your credibility right there. Houston has yet to force a single turnover. Their zone is so soft that anyone can catch a pass, and the pass rush doesn't even exist. Look at the shuffling Cinci did today and Houston still couldn't get consistent pressure. It's been the same story for the 4th year now.

Honestly I think Fangio will be the next go. I hate to call for firings after the team looked better, but the defense is not getting it done.

Well, it CLEARLY wasn't "confirmed", since it was ruled a fumble.

I think it's obvious he WAS fumbling the ball as his arm went forward, but I will admit to quite a bit of surprise that the call stood. I thought the "tuck rule" or whatever would end up with HOU still having the ball. But, to be fair, Cincy already had the lead and there was a LOT of field between HOU and even a FG.

Anyway, You guys definitely showed up. Clearly ALL Cincy could handle. I'm sure you guys are going to win quite a few this year.

Good luck the rest of the season.

You were easily the worst team in the league over the first two games and I thought you guys looked good today. Bengals offense did not play nearly as well in a game where you kept the pressure on them making them look like a average offense at best. That is a victory for you guys.

Also, the team with a league high 12 interceptions didn't pick off carr once... not once! So he took the sacks... would you rather lose the possession or lose the yards? Interceptions are always more dangerous than picks and carr made the right decision taking the sack rather than throwing desperately.

You made the bengals D look suspect as a whole. You ran davis well and threw a lot of passes short and underneath and there was nothing the D could do about it. The bengals may make the playoffs this year and this has been their toughest game. Calling minn, cleveland, and chicago bad teams is not accurate at all. That you guys played them closer than any of those teams says something.

Hold your head high texans... today was progress...

The reality of it is that we are just not that great of a team, and although, yea its a 60 minute game, we aren't good enough to have plays like that taken away from us, especially at that specific time in the game.

I guess you could say we don't deserve to win if that's the case, but we have to at least be given a chance on the last drive of the game.

Is it just me or has the secondary seemed clueless all season. I'm so tired of this. I'm ashamed to be a Texans fan. Seems like even Dunta is not getting it done.

How come we can't get any pass rush? Seems like every o-line in the NFL is a match for our d-line...except our own.

The offense looked ok today...but I am not convinced of Andre Johnson. Everyone talks him up yet I can only remember him dropping passes. Most of Carr's problems I blame on the dismal o-line.

Normally, I agree. I hate complaining about the refs. However, when a game is that close one play IS the difference. Especially when they have a chance to review a play that was OBVIOUSLY the wrong call. The refs pulled the rug out from us when we were driving and only needed a FG.
That said, the Bengals were still the better team today.

Well, I'm pissed about the loss, but I do like that they came to compete today. There's still some work to be done. DC, should not have been sacked as many times as he was today - some of which I think were his fault. Defense needs to put more pressure on the QB.

Let's hope they can turn it around next week against Tennessee and continue beating them.

That's sort of my point. When you are that average (at best) one play can dictate whether you win or lose. They didn't do enough positive to overcome the negative. They did more positive than the first two weeks, but still not enough.

obviously you know far more about football than i do, but i really thought that when they ended up something like 4 and 41, carr should have got rid long before instead of going so far back, i'm going on what the commentators said as well as my own thoughts with that one.

This is likely to be the only texans game shown live over here this season, and i thought they looked far better than the highlights from previous weeks showed, Carr was picking out the right passes at times and the team made good progress up the field, it's just a shame that he gets sacked so bloody often, there is clearly a lot of work to be done on the o-line, and Carr needs to use the time he's given far better.

Well, Carr definitely has to work on his pocket presence... it's one of his bigger weaknesses. I just think when the defense is sending nearly everyone back in a prevent, the o-line should be able to give Carr some good time.
And we looked WAY better this week compared to the last two.

I totally agree, Vinny. Pendry definitely understands this unit better than Palmer did. Simply, the Oline's inability to pass block for 2 seconds prevented this team from scoring closer to 30 points today. I can't comment much on Pitts or Weigert but Wade, McKinney, and Riley were amazingly bad today. Riley single-handedly stalled 2 good drives with penalties and whiffed blocks.

Riley, Wade, McKinney, Bradford, RSmith, TJohnson, Greenwood, Buchanan, MColeman... all of those guys look like mediocre to bad NFL players and they are all essential to this teams success. I'm very concerned about Casserly at this point.

By the way, Carr played a heck of a game!... So did Dunta Robinson...

Also, I'd like to see Capers bench players and get in their face for playing poorly instead of just yelling at Peek when he gets into a fight. At least he's putting plus effort into it and making plays. His antics are the least of their problems. By the way, when do we start pressuring the QB? Is that part of the 5 year plan?

Bobo

Bottom line -- no difference. The O-line still allowed too many sacks, the offense only scored one TD and Andre Johnson once again was a non-factor. True, the team was at least competitive but that certainly was not because of any better offensive output. It's not the losses that I mind. Heck, I expected them to lose the first three even before the meltdown. But what concerns me is the continued high number of sacks and the absolute failure of the offense to mount any kind of production. This team has fallen back to 2002 as far as the offense goes. Davis may be better than mack and Andre Johnson is a vast improvement at WR, but heck -- who would know it when you look at their production? Next week is the real test. If they stink it up against Tennessee at home, then you'll know we have made several steps back.

Well, good to see that things are looking more positive for the Texans. :texflag: Being in Australia I do not get too see to many games, still waiting for the first one this year!!!! :brickwall

I have got to say that looking at the stats and comments from different places this week was one hell of an improvement. The thing that stands out for me is the 90 yard drive with ten plays for a touchdown, not too bad for a team struggling with Offence...When the O line gets tighter there will be less sacks and more touchdowns, you would hope. The D done quite a job too....Good on em, lets hope there is more too come.

All it takes is a little confidence and a winning streak to get this team into the final series this year, it can happen. Over here in Australia (NRL: National Rugby League) the team that won the Grand Final last night was 150 - 1 odds 15 weeks into the competition!!! Because the Comp was so tight it left them with a window of opportunity...With their backs against the wall they banded together through all of the public slagging and come out fighting!!!! This is what i feel is going to happen here....Remember, you heard it from me first.... :texflag:
