With Chad Pennington going down for the season, this puts Herm Edwards on the hot seat in NY. If the Texans cant pull things together this season, is Herm Edwards someone we'd think about bringing in the right the ship?? I love his defensive mind set but he's lacking in offense in NY just like we are here in Houston.

On another note, with Pennington going down, does this give us an option to send Carr to NY for a #1 in next years draft?? What do yall think???

I love how some of you guys hate Carr so much, and then inflate his trade value.

Carr is going to be the QB. Deal with it.

I knew this was coming....just waited to see how long it would take. Would you give up a 1st for DC?

LOL i was thinking the same thing.

"Carr is the worst player in the NFL.....maybe next year we can trade him for the #1 overall pick."

Sometimes these people make me laugh. Thank god most of them don't know *** about football or the NFL.

I dont hate Carr at all. I just read where the Jets are looking at Volek and Ramsey and wanted to see what Texans fans thought. I'm all for keeping Carr and seeing how he develops over the next 2 seasons or so. If we end up with a top 3 pick I'd like to see us trade down and get an extra first rounder. Select a stud LT and a viable #2 WR.

If Capers stinks it up over the next few weeks I'm all for taking a solid look at Herm Edwards though.... :texflag:

Someone called in and asked the same thing to John and Lance. They said sure 1) someone would be interested in DC, 2) maybe second rounders, but 3) David's not going anywhere.

carr can easily get a mid-first round pick. but dave ragone cannot play at the NFL level, so carr won't be traded.

So much for that 1st round pick for Carr: Jets turn to Testaverde (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/4910040)

If you guys are looking for a trade for a QB hope that Ragone gets some spot duty in some blowouts we put up and we can engineer a trade for him. He wont draw much attention but possibly a 3rd at the most more likely a 4th or 5th.

Heres an idea we trade Carr for any first round pick. He turns that pick into the second pick overall in the draft. With the Texans pick being first. Then we can draft D Brick and Eric Winston. We can draft a QB in 2007. :jk:

I doubt the Jets get rid of Coach Edwards, regardless of how the team ends up this year.

He'd be a great coach to have, without a doubt. But I don't think McNair fires Capers until after season 5, even if we end up with a bad record and fans starting the mutiny.

you do know that D Brick is hurt right now dont you. Anyway we dont trade Carr because he is a good QB. We do find him some blocking for next season and we ride out a great ride this season that should have us at about 6-10. Hopefully I am wrong on that and we win the next three quarters of the season.

If we end this season with six or less wins I say trad DD for draft picks and start J Wells. I think he can be just as good if not better than DD.

We are going to have a bad record and mutiny after season 4. I hope to god that if we continue this path this season he is gone, period end of story. I think the 5 year plan went out the window when we regressed to year 1.

Correct me if i'm wrong but is this not the 5th season for the staff and 4th for the players? - I believe the 5 year plan has played itself out and those in authority have shown to have found a "few" nice building blocks but several areas of the team are lacking. IMO we were a more solid team last year yet this staff chose to get rid of several playmakers and thus the team regressed as the staff had overvalued some talent and traded picks away for players they thought could make an immediate impact, but ultimately havent panned out and we are still sans 5 draft picks for them. Thats 5 more people that could have made an impact on the team just as much as these two have thus far. Not to mention the higher round draft choices the front office choose for no apparant reason when we lack depth in so many other areas of need.

To put it bluntly weve had 4 years of mediocrity not maturity which is what this staff was hired to do. It's interesting to note in the fox interview they named McNair as having made some say so in the ousting of Palmer as well. It seems that perhaps he's recognizing the need to take matters more in hand to right the ship at this point. I cant blame him as for a 5 year investment the team looks good perhaps on paper at the moment but to the public it looks plain awful and uninspired. I'm sure Mr. McNair can see that for himself and will take the necessary steps to put the winners back in place and get the team rolling the right direction again - One way or the other [New staff].

IMO -As I said before the season started and later re-iterated after watching them up close for 3 weeks during TC and pre-season - the writing is on the wall for almost all the staff if they dont turn in a winning record this year. They just plain are not coaching them very well, the players look under-prepared, lazy and lax

Carr MIGHT be worth a 4th or 5th rounder...

If P-Burnt is worth a 2nd and 3rd I'm sure we could get the same for Carr, but we would have to trade him during the middle of the season before his contract option is up.

Carr is definately worth a first rounder, but I'd be surprised if anybody would give us more than a 2nd or 3rd rounder. That said, why trade the best player we have to offer?

Now to the person that said trade DD - what the hell are we going to get for Davis? I love the guy, I think he adds a lot to the team, but I don't think he has a high market value. And by the way, we wouldn't start Wells, we'd go with Morency.

Now, since all the crazy talk is coming out - let me throw in my hairbrained scheme. Let's go after Ricky Williams right now. His market value has to be pretty low at this point, Ronnie's been doing good in Miami so they should be more than willing to let Ricky go. I think we could possibly get him for a third round pick. He may or may not be in shape right now - but he's in his prime and last time he played football he led the NFL in rushing. He's also a lower his head and run people over type player, something this team doesn't have. Having a premier running back would take some of the pressure off Carr and give defenses something to look at.

I just figured I would throw that out there. Because DD doesnt exactly fit the offensive scheme were trying to run. We need a big bruiser that can run the ball 40 times a game and not get injured or just change the offensive scheme. Which would probably be the better idea.

I like that idea. As much as I love DD's diversity, Ricky Williams would be nice to have. Ricky could be our big bruiser and short yardage back and DD could come in as our 3rd down "reciever" back. We still need a better OL, but with Rickys downhill running style they dont really have to give him much of a hole, just enough room for him to sqare his shoulders and plow through. I doubt it will happen, but it would be like Christmas if CC actually went through... and thats coming from a huge DD fan

:texflag: I have to feel horrible for saying this as I always tend to "root" for the black coaches in the NFL. But I sure do hope the JETS tank this season and Herm gets fired, that way he could be hired here after we can Dom Capers. If we got a real winning type coach, someone with passion for the game, that can inspire his players, I would do my happy-time-football dance :yahoo: . Lets start the very selfish Houstonian chant: FIRE HERM EDWARDS, FIRE HERM EDWARDS (may God have mercy on my soul)

To be honest with you this is one of the dumbest post ever herm would be a good candidate but honestly no one would even give us a 3rd rounder for Carr much less a first rounder even the homers around here know the best we could get would be a 4th rounder For the Great Fresno State talent david Carr

If P-Burnt is worth a 2nd and 3rd ....

P Burnt was worth that to Casserly not any other NFL GM. If we are lucky, McNair will fire Casserly, some other NFL team will be stupid enough to hire him, and we can trade P Burnt to them for a 2nd and 3rd.

Herm Edwards rocks, but do you think he's on the hotseat after freakishly losing his top 2 QBs (and subsequently getting stuck with Mr Interceptaverde)? If Pennington was helathy and they lost, I could see it- but sheez he's been dealt a rough hand for '05 :deadhorse

Is Herm Edwards really the answer and what this team need?

Herm's record is 37-32.
Caper's is 30-34 at Carolina
16-34 at Houston
Both of Capers record was/is with expansion teams. Is Herm really that much better?

I like Herm Edwards. I could deal nicely with him at the helm here.
I still want Holmy, but no one else supports me in this wish, so I will keep it to myself. :)

Maybe if we give Herm koolaid and a bus pass he would opt out of his contract.

"Enjoy the Koolaid"
and
"It doesn't matter where you sit on the bus, you're still on the bus"

Quotes from teh next Texans HC. Capers could be our DC in a month.
