Aaron Glenn just got toasted twice on touchdown passes to Santana Moss. Each pass was over 40 yards.

Did he make an Ole' tackle too?

Did he make an Ole' tackle too?

Negatory. It almost seems as if he's relying on SS Roy Williams help too much.

I saw that too. I guess maybe he's going downhill faster than we thought?

Because he was to slow to cover Moss by himself and that was with a 10 yard lead.

That is what was called a 3 deep coverage on both plays. Both routes were in the middle of the field, where Roy was supposed to be to help glenn out. On both plays glenn was burned, but Roy was supposed to have coverage over the top.

Both plays 80% Roy Williams fault for being too slow and getting out of his backpedal way too slow.

Hey, it's about time this rivalry spicens up.

I'll give the Redskins credit. They didn't give up and got the plays they needed when they needed them.

Dallas defense did the very same thing they did all last year. Give up the big play at the very worse time possible. It killed them all year. It cost them a game tonight.

Best rivalry in the NFL.

Yeppers.

The only consolation, as ThaShark316 has already pointed out, is that we can blame it on an Aggie and Sooner. :)

Nail on the head, it was Williams. They dissected both of those plays yesterday after the game on the Cowboys' call in program on the radio. I was listening to it on the way back from that game (hey, I had to see the Triplets put in to the Ring, but that's a different story for a different day).

On both plays, Moss ran inside and faked a move to the outside. Glenn had to maintain outside coverage, so both times he was directed to the outside by those moves. At that point, it became Williams' responsibility to contain Moss, but the Redskins did their homework by putting pure speed on Williams. It worked for them, twice.

I'll fault Williams only for that second TD pass; logic clearly dictated that if you're going to get burned again (and it was pretty clear it was a case of deja vu all over again), he should have taken Moss down by the ankles before the ball got there and settled for the pass interference call instead of giving him a clear shot to the end zone.

One thing though Huge and I'll take this...at least the Cowboys are competitive again. Last year they just weren't in so many games. The defense wasn't getting a pass rush; the corners didn't make plays.

This year they're rushing and getting sacks...they're making turnovers and it looks to me as though Henry (?) is a pretty good corner.

Last night you have to give the Skins props. They made the plays when they had to. They have a very good defense. They will get their QB killed though if they don't play much better than they did last night.

And for those talking about Roy Williams he's taken blame for both TD passes and said not to blame Aaron.

The last one Aaron was playing at least 10 yards off Moss' side but flew back up at the end. Williams should have been over there sooner.

Did anyone see that monster hit Sean Taylor put on one of the Dallas WR's?

I felt the sting on that one. Also, did that look like an incomplete pass, or a fumble?

My first response was that it was a fumble. The WR turned, with control of the ball, and got lit up.

Williams was clearing out of position on both plays. Both Williams and Glenn should have been behind Moss. I think they underestimated his speed.

Too many feel good stories going on to worry about a loss.

Michael, Troy and Emmitt added to the Ring.
Rookies Ware, Spears and Canty looked outstanding.
Team is now +8 in turnovers.
No sacks given up last night.
Defense playing great minus those 3 plays (Brunell's 3rd/25 scramble and the 2 TDs to Moss).

I can handle a loss on a night like that. Cortez makes his first FG and we win. After the first two weeks, most thought we'd be 1-1 anyway.

I like this team. Not enough to think they'll win more than 8 games. But we've got some players that are fun to follow again.

Taylor lit Crayton up, but I think the call of incomplete pass was the right one. I've seen similar plays called the same way.'

Cortez is one of the worst kickers in the league.

I was uncomfortable after Cortez missed the field goal because too many times it always comes back to haunt you. Last night proved my reason for concern. However, it was a very good game, hard fought by both, and in extreme temperatures.

I wish I could have been there for the half-time ceremony. So touching to see three of my all-time favorite athletes honored on the same evening. The Cowboys organization is great at putting together ceremonies and half-time shows. I am really looking forward seeing the new Rings of Honor on October 9.

I still believe that the Cowboys will lose no more than five games this year.

Yea to be honest I figured the Cowboys would get beat in SD and beat the Redskins. They could easily be 0-2 so I'm not going to cry over the loss last night. You give the Redskins their due and move on.

Cowboys definitely need a new kicker. It amazes me when I see all the other teams with absolute clutch kickers and the Cowboys fiddle around and get these has-been field goal kickers.

Roy Williams is a man..he accepted responsibility for his bad play and he'll go out next week and rock somebody's world to take out his frustration. He's better suited to be a linebacker I think and who knows that he won't end up eventually being just that.

The Cowboys are gonna be a fun team to watch again. If they do their best and lose I'll not complain. The other teams suit up pro players too.

Now if we can just get these Texans to play some ball pro football for me will be complete.

It is a good thing they moved him to SS from FS. That is his more natural position. Unfortunately it looked like he was playing more of a cover two safety (on the two plays) than a true SS. I don't think that plays to his strengths.

You guys are confusing me with all this safety talk...even though I've watched football for decades I'm not educated on what a cover two safety is....my fault because I should know but I don't.

I like Roy though. He's not perfect; he's going to make mistakes. And he sure did last night.

You can say that again. Sacked Mark Brunell 6 times, forced 2 turnovers, Bledsoe has 105.0 passer rating, Glenn catches for 157 yards.
We're in a much better situation than some other teams around us...... :)

Agreed.

In that scenario (4th and 15), I would've preferred to see a 3-3-5 set with Roy lining up next to a LB and have him cover the first down marker (or blitz him to give Brunell less time to throw). Put an extra CB back to play deep cover.

Other than those two plays though, he did fine from his natural SS (that's "Strong Safety" WWJD ;) ) position. Would've been nice to see him come up with that pick on the pass that hit him in the face mask.

And last year Vinny was harrassed game after game. They've added a few new guys I think and got the guy from GB. I was surprised that their O line play was so poor last year at times because usually that's a strength.

And the QB play has definitely improved.

One thing that has always bothered me about ANY team. It kills me when they have say 4 yards for a first down and they run 2 yards. RUN PAST THE MARKER! That drives me crazy. :brickwall

We were there also. Great game, disheartning at the end but a good game. I try as (a girl) to understand the scheme of play calling and all, I'm getting there, so for me to read these posts im absorbing info and applying where I can. We are on the rail at the corner end zone where Moss came in for a TD with Aaron Glenn on his heels. . .You should have seen his face :brickwall
I for one miss him in Houston but he just didnt have the speed on that one!

I had tickets on the front row in the endzone and one year a Miami receiver was running hard and hit the wall to slow his progress. We all leaned over to watch the action and he looked up at us and told us to "**** off".

Now mind you the "we" I speak of was 3 females...we said nothing to him..we never could figure out what pissed him off so badly to cuss us out.

The guy's name was Jimmy Cefalo ( I think that's the right spelling) and I was surprised years later to turn on the TV one day and see him doing some broadcasting. He certainly had a potty mouth that day at Texas Stadium!

Gosh Huge that was a long time ago and you know back then I was younger and I remember we just laughed it off at the time. If it happened now I'd be more offended because I'm now a grouchy old lady and I wouldn't stand for it and also because we didn't do anything other than lean over the railing.

He wouldn't remember unless he has a photographic memory.

Personally I think he was mad because he was running hard; the pass was off and he just took it out on us.

I know people think Texas Stadium is a "dump" but you know I always thought for watching a game up close it was a great place. You're very close to the field.

But you know I may just email the dork..remembering it HAS made me mad now after all these years.

Yeah sooners off to a rough start. :D

Why are Texan fans ragging on Glenn. He was a fan favorite and classy guy. I wish we still had him and our two draft picks and the Raiders still had PBuch and a feather up their rear. :D We'd both be tickled to death.
