I haven't seen this picked up by the Chronicle or posted on this board. For him to turn down more money and a chance to play is absolutely amazing.

Great piece, Thanks.

That was pretty first class by Miami by listening to his needs and not signing him.

Wide receiver Donovan Morgan, who is on Houston's developmental squad, told The New York Times that he successfully petitioned the Dolphins not to claim him off waivers when waived by the Texans during the preseason.

Morgan was housing eight family members in his two-bedroom apartment who were evacuated from New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. Morgan said he got word the Dolphins were going to claim him and told team officials that another move would have been too difficult for his family even if it meant losing a shot at a spot on a 53-man roster.

Morgan's family was rescued by boat from their apartment and further traumatized by gunfire they heard while housed at the New Orleans Convention Center before being relocated to Houston.

He would have made about 88K if the waiver claim would have went through.

More than he is going to make here all year on the practice squad.
