No they are not the answers to the Texans pass rush!

Did you notice that Peak would try the same move over and over again. He would spin once and then wonder what to do next.

Where were our inside linebackers? "Mercelous" Marlon and "Wong way Wong!"

We look worse than our first year as an expansion team. :bag:

I won't waste my time on talking about our ridiculous offense. I'm sure there will be plenty of threads on that one.

think we look for linebackers in the next draft?

I would love to hear an explanation from anyone regarding why there was ever a reason for optimism with these two guys.

Wong was terrible as well. Greenwood? Was he out there? You could have fooled me. Babin and Peek were awful. They were outcoached, outplayed, and out muscled in every phase of the game.

Truthfully, I think it is Fangio's ridiculous read and react rush 4 and drop everybody else back into soft zone with inside linebackers covering WR's 25 yards downfield defensive style, more so than a lack of talent on the defense.
Regardless, everybody needs to step it up.

Im curious to know what happened to that revamped Defense I heard about all week? Losman still has a clean jersey.

I thought the inside linebackers played worse than the outside linebackers. I thought Babin had a decent game. Carr and the offense is what stunk it up. Carr was horrible.

I don't think the "D" was bad at all. The Bills had 5 fg's. 42 points is bad "D".

Why did we let SHARPER go and give a big contract to Wong??

Carr was bad, but the Oline was horrendous. Every few plays the Bills would blitz, Carr get sacked and then our brillaint coaching minds would call a draw play on 2nd and 20.

Maybe if we brought more than a 4 man rush, we could get some pressure. i thought that was the point of a 3-4, having 3 down lineman so that you could do all kind of exotic stuf with the 4 LBs. Well at least we won on my XBOX.

Peek was not that bad today, he didnt get a sack but he didnt screw up really other than the dropped INT. He kept his contain the entire game and forced McGahee back to the middle. THe lack of pass rush was due to the Bills being intelligent and using short drops and roll outs to the right side. Maybe the pass rush was not the fault of the players on the Texans as much as the good play calling of the Bills

Carr doesn't know how to step up in the pocket or throw the ball away from the pocket. A better QB makes the line look a lot better.

I'm watching the tape again, and yes it's difficult but it's better than watching the Cowboys.

So far I have what I think is both Greenwood and Wong biting hard on the run fake, and then Greenwood getting beat in coverage of a TE. This is with 5:34 left in the first on consecutive plays.

I think the line was average and Carr makes it look worse than it is by not stepping up or getting rid of the ball in the pocket. I think we have an average line and a below average QB.

im starting to believe you. i think carr is a competitor and also very accurate. but he cant read defenses and makes bad decisions. 2cnd and 20 down by 15 in the 4th and he audibles to a run up the middle.

What was it that babin did that made you think he had a decent game??? was it the constant lack of presense in the buffalo backfield??? as bad a game as peek had, babin was totally non existant.

with regards to carr, you can bash him all you want, but you are fooling yourself if you think that any other quarterback would have fared much better with the lack of protection we saw today.

a QBs job is not to make the line look better, a line's job is to keep the QB off of his butt. just look at what losman was able to do with a line that gave him more than enough time to read and react.

Look at how much better Flutie made the Bills line look when he replaced Rob Johnson a few years ago. Everyone blamed the line until Flutie came in (kinda like our fans here)...and all of a sudden all the sacks stopped when they pulled RJ.

Babin helped flush the QB out of the pocket alot. One guy on the D had a really good game and that was Gary Walker. But I could've swore we cut Aaron Glenn though, what was he doing out there guarding Eric Moulds.

Agreed, but we traded away extra picks to get a "kevin greene" clone. other tweeners taken after him in his class like schobel and shaun phillips are doing better. It is not his fault, he did no worse than anyone else, but the morons that traded up to get him are to blame, but that is an argument for another day.

Carr was horrible today, but he was rushed out of the pocket by buffalo on what seemed to be every other passing play. stepping up into the non existant pocket would have left him seseptable to strip plays like the one by takeo spikes. Judging carr without giving him an average of over 2 seconds after the snap before he has to run for his life is ridiculous.

I would like to piont out that other than the dropped INT peek played decent. He didnt lose contain, and to his defense most of the blitzes that were run today, capers had peek dropping into coverage. Most of the game he was being doubled on pass plays by the LT and RB, or Losman was rolling out to the other side. He almost got a sack on a quick screen play when he blitzed up the middle, but that was all the blitzing that he really did. I think he did well keeping his position, and the sacks will come when he gets a chance to have some help on blitzes and when the QB stays in the pocket for more than 3 secs.

we will agree to disagree then, a qb's job is to lead his team downfield, an OLs job is to allow their qb to do so by keeping him off the ground. sure a qb can do things to avoid sacks, but when there is no pocket to step into, what do you want him to do?

personally i think the linebackers play was decent...not the outstanding play that capers thought that adding this "speed" would give him...personally if i was casserly i would have cut foreman moved wong inside and KEEP sharper...anyways...yes peek tried the same damn move everytime...yes babin doesn't know how to keep contain...but NO the defense was not the problem today...carr and the offense was...carr has no trust in the o-line...he will not step up into the pockett because he believes he'll be sacked that way...carr is not checking his other reads...but then again i ask ya'll this...where the hell was this running game we were supposed to have...why did we pay DD more money just to fumble the ball again...if capers is gonna have this offense in run-first mode then he better have a good running game otherwise his offense will look like this the rest of the season and he will be fired

I don't agree with Vinny often, but in this case I do. Carr never looked to anyone but his first option and held the ball way too long. The Texans were supposed to have switched to a quick passing game to help limit the sacks, but Carr would take his 3 step drop and then hold the ball. He would lock on to his 1st option and hold the ball until he was hit or until he started running. Carr had time to find another Receiver, but never looked for one. the O-LIne wasn't the greatest but they were adequate. Carr made the O-Line look worse than they were. A QB like Manning or Brady would have, IMHO, made the O-Line look decent.

Carr looked bad and there is nothing you can say that will change that.

Carr was horrible.
I don't see that ? I saw one play where Carr lofted a perfect pass 35-40 yards pass down the field and Corey "board hands" Bradford let it bounce off his hands. I saw another play where Gaff let a beauty of a pass bouch off his
elbow because he was looking downfield (or looking up his ***, take your pick). I saw another play where Carr made another pass right to AJ and he
dropped it. It was a tough catch, but hey, Johnson went to the Pro Bowl last year, he's suppose to make those catches.
That first intereception was a pass off target, but not at all a blatant error.
Carr made some plays but his WRs didn't reciprocate.
And believe me I am not reluctant to critisize the individual players.
But the OL was AWOL today - again ! That was Carr's biggest problem today.

Well, if Carr is making so many mistakes, and is not looking off receivers, and is locking onto Andre, that is something that coaching can change. What is the QB coach doing? Where is his influence? These are problems that coaches are supposed to be able to fix. Some fault should lay on Carr, but he cannot be solely to blame.

So what are the Texans options? I do remember reading that David is due a very large bonus next summer...so if he continues to play poorly do you cut your losses and go in another direction with a new QB? Or do you stay with him and see what happens?

One thing I do believe though...if David continues to run with the ball (something he does well) he may not make it thru the whole year because he was getting knocked around today and he was real slow to get up and I've not even watched the whole game.

I don't think he scored on that one play either. His foot was out of bounds.

I think he can right whatever is wrong with his game. Personally I am not so sure he's lost complete confidence in the playcalling which is a death knell for a offensive coordinator and QB. Ex: Troy Aikman and David Shula.......

I suspect the OC is on very thin ice here.
