Seth Payne was at Texans Youth Football camp Thursday and said he was doing great. Knee was rehabing real well and he hoped to be back this next season. He looked great, and was so wonderful with the kids. He's quiet a guy!

Payne wont be 100% untill mid-season. Maybe even later. Don't expect much play from him in the early part of 04.

Any specualtion is just that. Speculation. No one really knows and won't know until we get close to September. He may be ready to go day 1. He may not. Human bodies have no finite chart to follow. Injuries will heal at different speeds but from what I gather he will be ready at the start of the season or really close to it.

In words maybe, but their actions (or non-actions) say plenty. The Texans have not looked to fortify the NT position in either free agency or the draft. The way I see it, the Texans feel like Payne's chances of recovery are very good.

It takes a long time to fully recover from his injury. He'll probably be in the lineup by the start of the season, but won't be playing up to his full capabilities until much later in the season or maybe even next year. Look how long it takes any other NFL player to fully recover from an ACL tear, it's almost always two seasons.
