I don't know if any of you have had the chance to relieze this but in the new Madden for some reason Vernand Morency is a better back then D.D, hes not rated better but for some reason he runs the ball better. Just thought it was strang so I figured I would post it. :texflag:

I'd hate to say it but it's true... for the most part. If I'm not mistaken he has a higher speed rating than DD and as a back in the NFL, speed is a heck of an asset.

Nah.. Wells is better then either one. He bounces off people... He is rated lower, but seems better then even DD many instances.

...and again I say... ratings have a huge effect on abilities. That's why when I throw to AJ, he catches and burns, when I throw to Jabar he catches and gets lit up, and when (more like IF) I throw to Corey he drops it.

DD has speed rating of 91, VM's speed rating is 90. DD's agility, catch, and BTK rating is higher, but their ACC is a the same. VM has better blocking skills.

It depends on your running style and how you use them. IMO, DD is way better than VM.

Does Madden 06 allow you to build your own franchise? Not like in 05 where you have to move an existing team somewhere else. I thought getting your own team was a big part of the Madden series and even though you could do in on 05 it wasn't the same imho.

Nope. '02 was the only Madden that had Expansion Mode.

The new QB vision deal has me all messed up. Seems like everytime I drop back to pass, I get sacked while i'm trying to put the vision on my reciever. Then again, i am using the Texans, and we all know how good the line is...

I have found it impossible to make more then two reads, mianly due to the O-line. I tend to make two reads, then either dump it off or try to run it. Also I've found having a secondary reciever in the vision cone, are at least very close to it, makes for much easier check downs. The only time try to check across the field is when I'm certain both wide-outs are in man coverage.

As for the runnign backs, I like both better after taking DD through the training camp practices, I tend to use him more. 0 fumbles for DD so far in my franchise year.

Know for a question of my own. What D formations do y'all find most effective. I've been mainly running Cover 2 and 3 and witht the playmeker controls blitzing any number/combination of the LBs. I've found blitzing with a safety bad for my health.

I turn the QB vision mode off. It takes too long to execute it properly. I like the new version overall. A D that I find very effective is the 3-4 solid. I use the engage 8, spread out the d-line and use Glen Earl to spy. It's a blitz where either Babin or Peek will cause a great deal of pressure. I'd say I average about three sacks a game with a ton of pressure as well.

has anyone noticed that madden 06 is a big disappointment? maybe its just me but i am not impressed at all. The QB vision gets me sacked just about every play. And that's about the only new feature on the game. Plus, the graphics aren't any better than 05

I love QB vision, for 1 reason.

It does the proper dropbacks automatically. I can look down the field and not have to worry about making a 3-5-7 step drop so I can get the ball out of my hand at the correct time and see the coverage.

This game is not easy, it is not the kind of game you can just jump into and start throwing the ball around like in Madden 2005.

You have to learn your playbook, learn how the routes you call expose the defense you see, then learn to recognize this on the field, and then get the correct time on your throws, then learn to look off coverage.

I don't go through progressions unless it's zone defense and I misread the coverage. You need to snap that ball and know exactly where read #1, #2, and #3 should be, and if one isn't open, where the open one should be. Anticipate, not react.

Practice Mode, Practice Mode, Practice Mode. This is a must if you want to compete vs humans.

Practice Makes Perfect, I am 9-0 online so far.

Get into 3rd and short situations and make the defense honor your rushing attack. If you an do that you can get the D into man coverage on 3rd downs. That opens it up to play action , fly passes, curl patterns, slants, out routes, hook routes, streaks. Run against a Zone, Pass against Man, learn what to do vs both.

If you want to establish a rushing game, you get much better blocking if you want for your center to make his line calls. It usually takes about 20 seconds after you line up. The Center will lift his arm up and point at the defense. No bs, after he does that you get much better blocking.

And if you are playing online with Xbox, you are wasting your time. There is a glitch on Xbox where if you press Y, you can tell if the offense is going to run or pass by the color of the icon above the Running backs, it is black, it is a run, if it is white, it is a pass. That bug isn't on PS2.

The pocket also will form better if you do this.

Combine it with slide protect if you think a blitz is coming and it will cut your sacks down (along with hitting your correct hot reads)

Oh, and you do not have to have your vision pointed at flat passes to RB's. or Screens. You can throw those accurately without looking at them.

Yeah, usually if I see a heavy blitz, or the D-lineman and linebackers or slanted in different angles. I'd just slant my lineman over to where the d-lineman is slanted towards and then I keep my tight end in for max protection.

Mark Bruener doesn't catch anything thrown to him even if he's wide fricken open, so I usually just hot route him to say in and block for max protection.

But for some reason, I have more of a drop ball problem with AJ than I do with Gaffney though idonno:

I hate the cover 2 in madden and stay away from it. I use various dime blitzes and coverages most of the time and use the 3-4 defense playbook because of the various blitz packages (Madden 05). You have to slant your linemen and press your cover guys most of the time for it to work well though.

I probaly should hav emade myself more clear. I use the 3-4 playbook, but call alot of cover 1, cover 2, cand cover 3 within the playbook; and I mix up dropping the LBs into zones and blitzing with them.

Ihategeeks, thanks for the tips. I also didn't know about this.

As for Mr. Bruener, for me the man catches the vast majority of what I throw his way. I tend the lead him and not laser the pass if at all possible. He got a sweet TD between two diffenders last night.

I'm jealous of you guys who can play on-line; and while I'm fond of my Gamecube (so is my son) I wish it had on-line play. I'm stuck beating the CPU.

Your QBs drop back automatically in '05 also. It's not a new feature. Anyway, I prefer the challenge of dropping back myself. It just feels more satisfying than letting the AI do the work.

Oh, and you do not have to have your vision pointed at flat passes to RB's. or Screens. You can throw those accurately without looking at them.

This is also true for any route that requires a 3-5 step drop. Just position your cone in the middle of the field, drop back, and gun it in there.

Also, youíre not able to look at your primary receivers during draw plays. The cone automatically starts in the middle (lazy *** programmers). So, getting into the habit of leaving your cone in the middle keeps human opponents from knowing whether or not itís a pass or a draw play.
