I was listening to ESPN radio while driving last night and heard them address the rumor of Jackson possibly being shopped. I doubt it would be a good financial fit to the Texans, but the WR concerns with the TExans would be put to rest...

I like Jackson alot. Even though he is a diva and a baby he does produce and he's in his prime. The problem is he is expensive.

Jackson is a gamebreaker but he's also a one-dimensional player, very expensive, and a locker room trouble maker.

I didn't realize we have concerns at wr. Are there any position we're not concern about? Jesus, how did we even win two games last season?

Wr were the only position that has allowed me to get a good night sleep this off-season. Thanks a lot dude. Now I'll lay my head with doubts pressing down on me.

LOL.. you are right, WR rates low overall and concern may have been tongue in cheek, so, don't loose any more sleep as a result. I just heard the talk of his potential availability and pondered the thought of Dre, Nuk and D-jax. What a stable. But the expense would surely detract from areas of real need.

Another Aaron Hernandez? Worth a read...

DeSean Jackson's gang connections troubling to Eagles (http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2014/03/eagles_desean_jackson_off-the-field_troubles.html)
...sources close to Jackson and within the Eagles' organization say, it's Jackson's off-field behavior that concerns the front office. A bad attitude, an inconsistent work ethic, missed meetings and a lack of chemistry with head coach Chip Kelly are the reasons, sources told NJ.com. And when the Eagles looked more deeply into why Jackson was missing meetings, they found that his friends were becoming a more powerful -- and negative -- influence in his life.

Now the Eagles have even more serious concerns -- Jackson's continued association with reputed Los Angeles street gang members who have been connected to two homicides since 2010.

Ever since New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested and charged with first-degree murder last summer, NFL franchises have been reevaluating how closely they needed to watch their players away from the field. And what Eagles executives see in Jackson, a six-year veteran, is apparently a potential blight on the brand and a bad influence in the locker room.

As a source within the Eagles organization, who requested anonymity, put it: "They are concerned about having him around the younger players."

THE FIRST SIGNS

DeSean Jackson was nowhere near the scene of the crime when, on Dec. 29, 2010, 14-year-old Taburi Watson flashed a rival gang sign at two men as he rode his bicycle through South Los Angeles.

The men, reportedly members of the Crips, responded to the teen's provocative gesture by shooting him multiple...

Did their GM even try to shop him? I highly doubt that he wasn't able to get even a 5th round pick for a guy who is a game breaker and 3 year $30 mill contract is quite reasonable for a team to take on for a guy of his talent.

They shopped him but nobody was willing to give anything up. His price tag this year was going to be $10.7 million and he has 3 years left and is unwilling to restructure. He also reportedly demanded a raise this offseason because he had a good year. Not many teams willing to take on that contract with his red flags.

Desean Jackson has a couple friends that were on trial for murder. He throws up gang signs all over the place. His record label Jaccpot is spelled with two C's because crips don't put "c" and "k" together because it stands for crip killer.

He throws up the rollin 60's crips sign in games and then he'll say good win.."keep it rollin"...

Let me connect the dots for you....Closer to home...Closer to old friends...closer to the negative element...

His friends that were on trial for murder weren't from Minnesotta. The murder didn't happen in Philly.

And just so you know, yes there are gangs everywhere, but it's on a different level in some places in California.

Well, he's a 5'10 195 pound WR, who makes a lot of dumb mistakes and drops balls more than you would like. It can't be that hard to replace him, he's not even close to elite status. This draft has a TON of great WR prospects, so I can see Philly picking up a few to work with Foles.

Plus, cutting Djax saved Philly at least 6.5 million this year. His contract was pretty steep, so that gets them out of paying him in the future. I think it was the right move, if they are truly concerned with his character.

I know @DeseanJackson10 very very very well. If the Eagles where so concerned about his "Gang Ties" they wouldnt had drafted him 6 years ago

Mark Dominik is the last person that should be talking about anyone with the way he handled players in @TBBuccaneers when he was the GM

The @Eagles gonna cut @DeseanJackson10 because they "Think" he might know gang members but they'll keep and resign a well known Racist?

I'm born and raised in South Central LA. I have uncles who are still gang bangin cousins who still gang bang. But what does that have to do

with someone playing football and ballin out for your team? I'm sorry but Every NFL team knows what there players are doing who there hangin

out with. In 6 years has he had 1 single incident? 1 single crime? The NFL is a bunch of BS Im so glad I'm done with that joke of a league

Mark my words there won't be an NFL in the next 20 years watch and see There so worried about who a player knows and a player dunking on the

goal post than actually worry about whats really important. And the funny thing about it Chip Kelly coached@t Oregon which recruited players

From Crenshaw HS. He knows for damn sure who's gang banging and who's not.

See, I've been to prison with DeSean. I've seen him walk the yard as if it were his old neighborhood, shaking hands and embracing inmates and engaging them in animated conversation. I was just a few feet away.

I don't think the release had anything to do with gang affiliation, but that Chip Kelly decided he wasn't going to put up with DJax's behavior. They just used the NJ.com article as good timing to convince their fanbase that DJax was a criminal.

The Eagles are well within their rights to jettison Jackson. Kelly is attempting to foster a new culture at the NovaCare Complex, and he had deemed Jackson expendable. But the selfishness, the lateness, and the immaturity were there long before Kelly arrived last January.

Two Eagles players who requested anonymity said that Jackson wasn't a clubhouse cancer, but he had become a distraction. They would not offer specifics. Both questioned whether his loss would hurt the offense and opined that he wouldn't be difficult to replace...

http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2014/03/eagles_desean_jackson_off-the-field_troubles.html

Through court records, however, NJ.com uncovered a previously unreported arrest that occurred in September 2009. Jackson was pulled over for having illegally tinted windows, police said, and during the course of the traffic stop, officers said they discovered marijuana in the vehicle.

Jackson was arrested for possession of marijuana while driving, disturbing the peace and operating a car with materials that obstruct or reduce a driver’s view, according to court documents. The marijuana and illegally tinted windows charges were dropped as part of the plea deal and Jackson pleaded guilty to a disturbing the peace charge in April 2010.

Both the Eagles and a spokesman for the NFL, reached Thursday, declined to comment on the arrest.

Did their GM even try to shop him? I highly doubt that he wasn't able to get even a 5th round pick for a guy who is a game breaker and 3 year $30 mill contract is quite reasonable for a team to take on for a guy of his talent.

Just asking.... would that have been the right thing to do?

I don't know, I don't know if cutting him then saying it was because of suspected gang affiliations is the right thing either.

If you trade him... are you going to tell the other team why you don't want him? I think it would be "passing the buck" & not the right thing to do.

I don't have a problem with them cutting him, they don't have to give the reasons they did though (& really I don't know if the Eagles said it was because of the gang stuff, or just "off-field" stuff). Let the other team make up their mind though.

Come on! Subtract the gang affiliation rumors and you still have poor punctuality to meetings, poor work ethic, poor influence on younger WRs and the definition of a locker room cancer. The Eagles were well within their right to cut him.

Cooper's a dumbass, but at least he was able to admit fault and apologize to his team and the entire Nation. Jackson just denies everything while demanding new contracts.

These ESPN analyst sound real dumb right now talking about @DeseanJackson10 They think they know what they're talking about but they don't.

@espn stop trying to discuss a conversation you know nothing about. U guys are assuming every single thing your talking about right now.

Im sorry but has @DeseanJackson10 ever been arrested? Suspended? DUI? Drugs? No so why are these dumb asses on @espn trying to make him seem

Like he's a horrible person. The NFL is so Contridictive I swear. Especially these punk ESPN Analyst.

and @RonJaworski_BFL shut the ****** up. You sound so dumb right now. and fake ass Teddy Bruschi for someone who use to play in the league

recently you sure are trying your hardest to act like you where Gods gift to football. I know almost everyone of your old teammates hated u

because you where that one guy that everyone had on there team that goes and snitches to the head coach about other players. Bottom line

A lil bro @DeseanJackson10 keep your head up. Keep doing you don't let any of these fake no talent ass analyst on ESPN deter you from doing

what you do. Keep working hard like you do everyday and when you do get on a squad and play against the sack ass @Eagles burn they ass for

10 catches 150yds 3td's

sorry twitter for ranting but I just hate when these so called sports channels start talking about crap they have no idea about.

And 90% of the African American population.

Ugh, please stop with your 90% exaggeration. It's not a word used in my house and I'm African American. My mother doesn't use it and so forth. You don't know enough African Americans to go spouting something that silly so just keep it to what you actually know. There are many African Americans who hate hearing it no matter what color you are.

I go to my son track meets and I have heard an asian kid use the word, latin and white. It has became more of a generation thing at this point, unfortunately. Probably doesn't belong in this part of the forum anyway.

The guy was exceptionally well paid and was making noise about a new contract one year into his deal looking to be paid like CJ or AJ and he's not and never will be those guys. The other crud was just icing on a crap cake.

This is basically my thought as well. More about money then add everything else. Find it a bit hard to believe that they wouldn't know about his ties to the Crips before they even drafted the guy. But you add up the grumbling about a contract he just recently signed, a heft cap hit, his practice/meeting habits and you see a reason to free some cap room and move on as an organization.

Hopefully it will have him look in the mirror as well and change some aspects of his life but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.

Apparently the Crips have released Desean Jackson.

http://www.sportspickle.com/2014/04/crips-release-desean-jackson-concern-affiliation-washington-redskins-organization

The Crips street gang announced today they will be releasing DeSean Jackson, amidst rumors of possible ties with one of the most troubled and controversial franchises in the NFL, the Washington Redskins.

“We enjoyed our time with Desean. We had a lot of good years together,” said an anonymous Crips member. “But we don’t want his rumored association with such a terrible institution to sully our name. We’re a group that represents intimidation and toughness, and his ties with Washington contradict those values. So it was best to cut ties.”

The announcement came just days after being released from the 10-6 Philadelphia Eagles. Jackson will be joining a Washington Redskins team who finished the 2013 season with a 3-13 record.

“And don’t get me started on the name controversy,” the Crips member added. “While we may be known as a group that commits crimes such as larceny, drug trafficking and murder, we are NOT known as a group that supports racial stereotypes towards Native Americans. How the NFL hasn’t changed the team name or logo is something we here in the Crips are baffled by and discuss frequently.”

The release comes as a shock to many, as Jackson was only 27 years-old, arguably in the prime of his crime committing career.

“I’d like to emphasize this decision was not based on his gang related performance; he excelled in those regards,” stated another Crips member, referring to the wide receivers rumored connections with two murders. “This is STRICTLY about being affiliated with the Washington football team and avoiding such negative influence on our younger members.”

While it’s not known who the Crips will look to sign to replace Jackson, rumors are they’ve been in heavy contact with the Cincinnati Bengals and expect a signing in the near future.

Aaron Hernandez was ACTUALLY arrested and tried for KILLING somebody.

Riley Cooper was caught on an ACTUAL cam being an ACTUAL White Supremacist, and was granted a NEW CONTRACT.

Desean Jackson got cut for NOTHING ACTUALLY FACTUAL. White people do ACTUAL crimes, and get slaps on the wrist. The Black man gets ACCUSED, and the whole town gets lynched.

Such similarity between 1914 and 2014.

Lol. He was being a white supremacist? Did he stupidly drop the n word on cam? Yes. Did he do anything to justify calling him a clans member? No. Stupid.

Link (http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2014/04/04/sources-desean-jackson-was-a-problem-for-kelly-eagles-in-locker-room/#.Uz7x1OAoVgk.twitter)

But what a number of sources close to and around the team, including current and former players, as well as additional sources within the Eagles revealed was that Jackson was not very well liked by his teammates, was blatantly insubordinate, with temper tantrums cussing out Kelly several times in front of the team, pushed the NFL rookie coach the way “a child would test boundaries,” and was more concerned with his rap label than he was about winning football games.

...

“The fact is, [Jackson] was a ‘me-guy’ with an attitude problem and [Maclin] is the complete opposite, a team guy, a great character guy you go to war with,” said one source. “Funny how [Jackson] has this anti-bully thing and he thought he could push [Kelly] around; he found out otherwise. His being cut had nothing to do with the gang stuff. The team knew it. Everyone knew he had ‘ties.’ Those were his guys. That’s okay. What put him out was his selfishness. He can try and spin it all he wants how he’s ‘a team player.’ He’s not. I’ll put it this way, when it came out last Friday that [Jackson] was released, more than a few guys were happy it happened. They said ‘good riddance.’ He had no real connection with anyone.

“Yes, you can say he was the type that could catch three TDs in a loss—everyone would be down, but you had the impression he was happy, because he got his. It was all about him. A lot of guys thought that way about him. [Kelly] came in here with a plan to get this thing right, and the one major [obstacle] standing in his way was [Jackson]. If we were going to move forward as a team, he had to go. Think about it—did anyone come right out and back him publicly? Not one.”

...

“You see little kids and how they cry and whine when they don’t get their way, that was D-Jax,” another source said. “I don’t think [Jackson] gave [Kelly] the respect he deserved. Kelly tried to reach [Jackson] plenty of times and [Jackson] tuned him out. Then you look at team functions, when everyone is out together at charity things or social stuff. He was the one missing. It was like he was in ‘D-Jax world’ and we just happened to be there.

...

Asked why the Eagles have been reluctant to go public with how difficult Jackson was to deal with, sources said Kelly likes to keep in-house dirt in-house.

“That’s [Kelly’s] way,” said one source. “It pisses me off that [Kelly] comes off looking like the bad guy here. It wasn’t just [Kelly] that wanted him gone. [Kelly] got a lot of feedback from guys that felt we were better off without [Jackson], too. [Kelly] is very much a player’s coach. His office is open to anyone. Now [Jackson] is the Redskins’ problem. We have something good going here and it’s going to get better without [Jackson]. He had to go.”

So, Jackson was just a selfish punk that nobody liked.

I always thought Djax was overrated. He makes some great plays, but he makes a lot of mistakes too. He's certainly not, nor has ever been, and elite WR. I don't think Philly will miss him too much.
