You ain't kiddin' ... I often wonder where this team would be right now if Kubiak was fired instead of bringing in Wade.

Thank Godness, it's about time! Having said that, I'm sorry he had to be fired. It's not something I take joy in. But, if you deserve it, you deserve it. Hope he can spend some time with family and recharge the batteries. Maybe a change of scenery will do him some good.

And I think this also seals that fact that coach Joe was Kubes boy. Simple as that. Once Kubes no longer was in charge of assistants, the ax came down swiftly.

You ain't kiddin' ... I often wonder where this team would be right now if Kubiak was fired instead of bringing in Wade.

One common viewpoint at the time was that it was too dangerous to replace Kubiak because the team would regress.*

In my opinion they'd be ahead of the game right now if they had gotten rid of him back then.

*I doubt anyone would have predicted a regression to 2-11 and counting though.

I agree with you, however disagreed with the "common viewpoint" back then. The Texans just went 6-10 so IMO not much to regress back to. If the goal was just to make the playoffs and win a playoff game it was a good call I guess, however they were never going to go further without a real HC.

He was just like Kubiak and Wade. Couldn't adjust to the new rules and was left in the dust.

Special teams used to be a strength of this team. Ever since they changed the wedge rule, the Texans haven't recovered.

He didn't mention the other30 head coaches. He's talking about Kubiak. I don't see what is so logical about trying to twist his comment about Kubiak to apply to 30 other coaches.

What I find illogical as that anyone can look at a playoff coach and declare he isn't a SB coach.

Winning playoff games and getting to the SB much less winning it involves far more than coaching. Last year is a classic - the results of 5 coaches were determined largely by Flacco going superfreak in the playoffs and he was assisted by Bolden pulling his own superfreak routine. And no that can't be said to be just good coaching unless you are also going to say Harbaugh just doesn't give a crap enough this year to bother getting good performance out of Flacco anymore.

That is a general comment, not a Kubiak comment.

I did not twist anything. He said, and I quote.

30 other teams do not make the super bowl, year in and year out. Based on his logic, those coaches are not real HC's because they only win playoff games and never make the big show.

I have to laugh at fans when they think it is easy to make the playoffs, let alone make an appearance in the Super Bowl regardless of who the HC is. As we all should know, a certain amount of luck comes into play here when it comes to making the big show. It is not always the best teams in the NFL who make it, let alone win it.

All of the comments that talk about former Texans (Jones & Holiday) going elsewhere and shinning because their failure in Houston was all Kubiak's fault, yet not one of them has posted that it's possible both Kubiak and Schaub will go elsewhere and succeed. But if they do, fans will start talking about curses again.

I think Texans fans should be grateful to Kubiak for giving them a taste of success. Kubiak put the Texans on the Map and made them relevant. You got what you wanted, the man is gone, enough with the venomous comments.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kubiak has success in the future. Many times in sports a change in scenery does wonders for players and coaches. However, I don't think Kubiak could have done much with this team in the near future. This team, in my opinion, now has a losing mentality and a servere lack of discipline on the field. The institutional lack of accountability has caught up with this team.

I think it is far easier for a new coach to correct these traits than it is for the coach that brought the team to this state.

I agree.

I don't know if Kubiak is going to become an OC first or if he's going to get another HC job, but I expect him to eventually to be a successful HC. Which is going to suck but he'd worn out his message here.

Some guys on NFLN were talking and they were basically saying the same thing. The Texans players lost their hunger and Kubiak stopped being able to motivate them. Rod Smith was one of those guys and of course, he was solidly in Kubiak's corner because of their long relationship but even he thought this was a good move for everyone involved.

I just hope that McNair is able to find a coach that can come in here and correct and tweak things to turn it around instead of someone who screws it up even more or tears everything down and starts to rebuild from scratch.

I'm kinda surprised that so many people don't seem to trust McNair to tie his own shoelaces but they think he's going to find the right man to lead us forward. I hope he does but I'm not that confident about it.

After a while it all becomes coach-speak to the players, even to the assistant coaches. Heck, it was probably all coach-speak to Kubiak. In the back of his mind, he probably didn't believe we'd win a Super Bowl with Matt Schaub & was planning his transition to Keenum.

He was probably expecting a play-off win, a Schaub departure, 10 more years of getting by.
