Didn't the Ravens beat us this season. Isn't that one of the first tie breakers?

Head to head doesn't apply when 3 or more teams are tied.

If we had a healthy Arian Foster and Brian Cushing we could have won a majority of the last six games, which were all one score losses, starting with the 17-16 loss at Arizona. We wouldn't be 2-10. We'd be at least 7-5 if not 8-4 and very much in the driver's seat for the AFC South division title much less the wild card.

But at this point we only have four games left. I'm already focused on the off-season and what we can do in the draft: Depending on where we pick, which as of now is the first overall pick. I'll even say it flat out: I'd rather have the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft than miraculously sneaking into that final wild card spot in the AFC with a dismal 6-10 record.

Could have, should have, would have... A day late and a dollar short... If only Arian Foster and Brian Cushing had stayed healthy, much less Owen Daniels and Danieal Manning. I just want this 2013 season to end. After we lose at Jacksonville tomorrow night we'll be 2-11 with only three games left.

Keep telling yourself that

Cushing and Foster were healthy when the losing streak started. The Texans will never win a SB with Rick/Gary running this org.

Playoffs

• Houston must win out: The obvious. A 4-0 finish would leave the Texans at 6-10 overall, the bare minimum record they’d need to reach the playoffs. They close at Jacksonville, at Indianapolis, vs. Denver and at Tennessee.

• Baltimore and Miami must lose out: Essentially, what the Texans would be hoping for in this far-fetched scenario is a complete jumble of teams at 6-10, with Houston claiming the tiebreaker. Either the Ravens or Dolphins could eliminate Houston simply by winning one of their final four games.

• Tennessee, Pittsburgh, San Diego and New York must finish 1-3 or worse: This is still possible with the schedules in front of these teams. Again, if any other team joins Denver, New England, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Kansas City with seven-plus victories, Houston would have no shot.

• Oakland, Cleveland and Buffalo must finish 2-2 or worse: This trio of teams sits with matching 4-8 records at the moment.

Piece of pie!

Easy as cake!

i think this is why this season is such a bitter pill to swallow. all we had to do is win 2-3 more games and we are in the playoff hunt.....

And the last six losses have been by a combined 18 points.

True but honestly every loss brings us closer to new change for the better (hopefully).

Arian Foster was never healthy in 2013. The guy was beat up and dealing with several injuries as soon as training camp started. In fact, I watched him limp around like he was 60 years old signing autographs back in May. Even when he wasn't playing football he seemed like he was physically struggling in some way.

But even so, I don't see what that has to do with the last six games we played? All of them were winnable for the Texans and turned out to be one score losses. Are you telling me a healthy Arian Foster and Brian Cushing wouldn't have made a difference in the Texans losing those games 17-16, 27-24, 27-24, 28-23, 13-6 and 34-31? If we had even won half of those games we'd have a fighting chance to make the playoffs right now.

I do agree with you that we need a major change at the top. If I were in Bob McNair's shoes I would clean house this off-season and bring in a new general manager and an entirely new coaching staff.
