We can lament the QB play and the bad line play and the unclutchness of this team all we want, and maybe we should. But in reality, given how many close games hinge on the turnover stat, how much different would this season look if they were even league average in terms of generating takeaways? This team has 8 takeaways in 11 games, which is worse than putrid.

The only turnovers tend to be from fumbles. Interceptions just aren't possible in man to man unless throws are way off.

This defense requires badassess all over the field to work. There's no hiding bad players in this scheme. If you're a slow LBer, you just have to hope the opposing team doesn't throw it your way.

Been saying this since last year.

Of the 8 takeaways, 4 are off of INTs and 4 off of fumbles.

That said, my point was that we always talk about the bad QB play and the bad line play as the main culprits, but I'd argue that the lack of creating turnovers is as big a problem as any of these.

The Texans have been 14th and 13th on INTs playing the same predominately man coverage the last two years.

Man coverage can create TOs if you hit the QB and he's forced to make throws early or off his back foot. Our defense has not been getting much pressure either which has caused its own set of problems.
