I completely agree but...all 3 players submitted to voluntary drug tests already. The problem is those tests are easy to cheat. If you are really innocent and want to resurrect a career with potential millions at stake, you submit to whatever tests teams require.

But if ESPN doesn't rumor-monger then do those players even need to submit to testing?

Dishman- Totally off topic but my step son plays flag football in a Cypress little league and Cris Dishman's son is also in the league and the kid is a freaking beast. It's seriously like watching a man play against a bunch of kids. When he gets the ball, he literally will not have a flag pulled. After a while, the coaches take him out because it's just really not fair. On defense, he will bee-line from the opposite end of the field and somehow be the one who pulls the flag. I saw Dishman himself at the game but didn't want to bother him.

Anyways, just saw your username reminded me of that. Carry on...

That pretty cool! Used to live in Cypress myself a few years back until I was married off to Kingwood. I hope his kid turns out to be a beast (your stepson, too)!

Because the folks that need to believe these players are in compliance with the NFL drug policy are the decision makers for the other 31 NFL teams. The players can claim innocent until proven guilty, they can provide a successfully passed test they took outside the auspices of NFL oversight, and they could even potentially win a grievance against the Texans, but in the court of the real-world NFL, their innocence (or alternately, their ability to become innocent and stay that way) is 100% at the discretion of other teams who can place that burden upon them if they so choose.

I guess my point is was any evidence provided to ESPN that they smoked marijuana? If not, the players grievance should be with the network. I may have missed it, but isn't it all speculation and rumor? Sure, the 3 "dudes, 1 cigar" story is suspicious and awkward, but so far that's all, huh?

I think the speculation was going to be there regardless of ESPN or anyone else reporting it. Look back at the first few pages of this thread (which was started prior to ESPN publishing anything), and you'll see it coming up on a pure conjecture basis.

Again, going back to your burden of proof concept, if I'm with another NFL team, I'm gonna assume the worst whether ESPN, Fox, TMZ, or Incarcerated Bob reports it or not. Then I'm gonna expect whichever guy I might be interested in to change my mind.

Why don't they have jobs if they can pass a league drug tesr?

NONE of them passed the NFL drug testing. http://www.texanstalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2237502&postcount=212

Go to any smoke shop in town and they have a variety of detoxing kits, masking agents, and even synthetic urine. All manufactured for one purpose. I have friends that use these techniques all the time and not one has ever lost a potential job due to a drug test.

I heard the Wood interview today. He sounds sincere, but that, in and of itself, proves absolutely nothing, just like his independent drug test.

As mentioned up thread, the hair test is the one you cannot beat, afaik.

Most hair tests can test back to 90 days. Those who shave their head thinking that they have beaten the system will be invited back with a week or two with instructions to let the hair grow. [Hair grows at ~1/2" per month.........with total abstention, shaving AFTER 1 1/2" of hair growth needs to occur to remove all signs of substance in the hair]

Yeah...a break out game for him against his "old" team...he'll probably "smoke" us for 200 yards.

Belichek is happy to pick up good players we drop. He's giving PT to Chris Jones who's actually playing well and who we stupidly cut and now will definitely make Cierre Wood a useful part of their offense.

Well if he'd learn to draft...

In just 6 games Chris Jones is rated 66th out of 67 DT/NT overall, and 67th/67 against the run by PFF (http://www.profootballfocus.com)(>25% snaps). He has 6 sacks. Earl Mitchell is only 60th/67.

How is a DT with 6 sacks rated as the worst DT in the game?

Probably because he's getting manhandled in other areas. Most DTs don't get a lot of sacks because that's not what they're supposed to do.

But I liked Chris Jones a lot and I was hoping he'd be a good player for us in the future.

Yeah, the Pats are ranked 30th in the NFL against the run (by yardage per game). That's obviously not all Jones, but he's a part of it.

The Texans released veteran linebacker Tavares Gooden on Friday and added cornerback Josh Victorian to the active roster.

Gooden, 29, was selected by Baltimore in the third round of the 2008 NFL draft. He played in just one game for the Texans this season and did not record a tackle. Gooden’s played for the Ravens, San Francisco and the Texans during his six-year career.

Hey, Cierre Wood.... I hope that was some killer pot you were smoking because it cost you a chance to be a likely starter for a run-heavy offense in your rookie year in the NFL.

That's why they call it "dope". http://www.mydisplayimage.com/aim/premium/anim_joint.gif

I'm watching Eagles crush Packers & they have several cut/free agent/traded former Texan players, Barwin, DeMeco (who is having outstanding game, not like Texans need ILB help) Casey, Carmichael & Maehl. :kubepalm:

so, three of those dudes are barely seeing the field...means and says nothing. Oh, and the eagles are not a good football team.

With Win against Pack & Cowgirl loss tonight against Saints Eagles will be 500 & tied for 1st place in their division. Even with a win Texans would only be 3-6 & out of playoff picture so who is the better football team?

Is Rogers playing? Because if he is not than it should be a win for the eagles.

yeah, they're not that good. If Roc Carmichael is Iggles starting LCB & he couldn't crack back-up duties here in Houston with this secondary I don't know what IS bad. Casey only had a couple catches but both were gritty, clutch move the chain stuff in critical 3rd down conversions. Plus one kick-off cover-up that cannot be overlooked because he was one of Texans best special teams players & we all know Texans special teams are bad. Barwin had a swat late in the game preventing Packers from converting a critical 3rd down conversion, as always solid in his run stopping too. DeMeco looked great & leader of the defense. Three passing stops & 9 rushing tackles. One terrific interception & he even pancaked a running back in the backfield.

Yes the Eagles are not very good, basically rebuilding on the fly, taking any other teams left overs, they can't seem to win @ home but are 5-1 on the road & looking more & more like a team that knows how to build & protect a lead. Understand DeMeco situation as well as Barwin but Casey was a terrific special teams player & steady offensive performer in 3rd down conversions. Roc is pretty much what he was here but is getting reps & at least sticks in man coverage & decent in run support. Two areas on this team I don't understand at all is how far the OL & secondary execution as fallen apart, how they evaluate performance & make cuts or sign free agents/draft puzzling :mcnugget:
