Back at the hotel and disappointed of course, but not surprised given the circumstances. Sean Lee made my evening when he came off the elevator gave autographs and after signing my glass asked for a hug. I live my Boys.

Cowboys K Dan Bailey's six-year extension is worth $22.5 million, with $7.5 million guaranteed. (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7144/dan-bailey)

Only in Jerry's World. More cap strapped than any team in football, the Cowboys will likely have to convert salaries into prorated "signing" bonuses elsewhere on the roster to fit Bailey's head-scratching new deal into their already in-the-red finances. Bailey gets a $4.5 million signing bonus and $3.4 million per year in new money. We don't have any problem with Bailey -- he's 26 and one of the top placekickers in the game -- but the Cowboys' contractual dealings are annually the most preposterous in football. Maybe they'll bulk up Bailey and get him to double at defensive tackle. Dallas is currently nearly $22 million over the cap.

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/dallas-cowboys/headlines/20140127-report-ex-lions-offensive-coordinator-scott-linehan-at-cowboys-facility-today.ece

Chatter about Scott Linehan possibly joining the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff picked up earlier today, and NFL.com is now reporting that the hire has been made. Linehan, the former Lions offensive coordinator and Rams head coach, will call the plays for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys now have 3 (terrible) offensive coordinators on their coaching staff and a 74 year old DC that coached one of the worst Cowboys defenses ever.

Like I've said, Browns are interested in Callahan. Dallas has steadfastly said he's not available. But Linehan's presence now is relevant.

... I'm told Cleveland has been informed that they'd similarly be denied permission to talk to Callahan. Doesn't mean it's all over, tho.

Interesting nugget about Bill Callahan's availability: Ravens put in a request to talk with him last week. They were denied permission. ...

Cowboys have created about $20 million in cap room by restructuring the contracts of Tony Romo, Sean Lee, and Orlando Scandrick. This was done by converting base salary into signing bonuses. They are now roughly $1 million over the cap.

Just deal with it next year Jerruh! 'Boys will be in cap hell as long as he keeps doing this every offseason.

"Demarcus" Lawrence. Oh, Jerry was asked if Manziel is Elvis, who is Romo, and he replied with a wide grin George Strait. The Cowboys have made no official statement regarding the results of the MRI performed on Lee's injured left knee, but the linebacker has been told the exam confirmed he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in the knee and he is not expected to play during the 2014 season.

On the play on which he was injured, Lee appeared to be slipping while being blocked by rookie right guard Zack Martin on a screen pass. Lee remained on the ground and needed to be helped to the locker room by members of the training staff.

Dallas Cowboys Trade for retired player (http://nflspinzone.com/2014/07/01/dallas-cowboys-trade-lb-rolando-mcclain/)

The Baltimore Ravens have traded LB Rolando McClain to the Dallas Cowboys, per Adam Schefter.

McClain just recently retired from football again. Here were his comments from his retirement in a text he sent to ESPN:

ďI gotta follow my heart. It ainít football. If football made me complete I would play. But whenever I think of it my heart pulls me away from whatever reason. Ö This means Iím done.Ē

So this guy claiming to be the son of god is the one who posted those photos of Jones.

I AM THE SON
God gave me these photos and I was given a choice. I could sell them and ruin your life in the media, make millions and tell my story or I could hold them in secret and suffer until I reached you. So, I gave my own life to save yours.

It’s a bold statement and the next statement is even bolder. It may scare you, but you have to believe in who I am. I know this because I am the Son of God and he sent me to you. Jerry, you and the Cowboys are the Star we will use to Light My Path. I spent 5 years suffering, losing all my possessions, giving the rest away to charity and then living poor. I almost lost my mind until God revealed my true identity.

On 7/11/12, 7 days after the God Particle was found in France, I was awoken by God and told to find you, Mr. Jones, to let the world know that God’s Son has risen. My name is Frank Hoover and I am the Son of God. The pictures and other information I provide to you as proof of who I am and why I am here on earth. I am the way, the truth and Jerry, you are my light. I have been sent by God to fix the problems created during the years leading up to my birth. The removal of Gold as the primary backing source of value of the US Dollar. There were three gifts in the bible: Gold, Frank (incense) and Myrrh. The person responsible for your crime is named 24K and born on 8/8/78 (888).

Does the picture of the mirror below look familiar?
http://htmlimg4.scribdassets.com/9qv49xx8w03z44vq/images/3-db7642e5c0.jpg
It’s the mirror that you replaced because you didn’t like it. My ex-girlfriend bought it on Craigslist while we were dating. When she went to pick it up, the guy told her it was from your suite at Cowboys Stadium. I don’t know if you believe in God or karma, but I’ve spent every bit of everything I have in life for you.

So please help me with the path I have been given by God. This document and a USB drive are the only remaining copies I have in my possession. I don’t trust a lot of people anymore, but I hope you can see that I’m trustworthy. No one has seen these since I stored them. I've carried an encrypted copy on my keychain with me every day in hopes I’d find you. The files on this drive are titled “Understanding the Truth”. It was encrypted with a password of ‘Justice’ so that even if I lost it, you wouldn't lose your reputation and the images would remain safe.

Now that you know who I am, please understand that I don’t care nor do I want to know what you do with the information. My job was to be the messenger. This is between us Jerry. Your secret will continue to safe with me. I can be reached at 316.573.2797. I am in hiding due to additional threats to my life from associates of the criminals listed below.

On February 27th, 2011, I went to the Alcove Wine Bar and coincidentally met a man by the name of 24K as in 24-Karat Gold. His real name is Kevion Hickman and he is also the key to me understanding all this. During our time living together, he had the last supper with Jesus tattooed on his throat. His family is....

My favorite post from the Giants board was Romo had time to scramble eggs, fry bacon, cook grits, toast bread, make coffee and complete his pass to Dez. By the way that was a spectacular catch by OBJ. It was funny that he was called for flopping. First time I saw that call in football.

Is he the best RB in the league????? He's got a better OL, but Le'Veon Bell has got to make it a tough call... Arian too. if he hadn't missed 3 games...

Cowboys MVP is that guy who made the decision to get the ball out of Romo's hands. Doesn't have to be Murray, they can give it to Randall, as long as Romo isn't throwing 40+ times a game.

Jerry's still cashing in on that AT&T contract. Plus I think he was on shaky ground at the beginning of last season with the fans: low expectations, fans selling tickets to visiting teams' fans, etc.

But... Just wait until you have 2 or 3 winning seasons in a row.

Yes, but, I was expecting one this year. I also have season tickets for the Texans, and a losing season only stopped them twice in 14/15 years, which was well made up for the following season which shaped my expectations. I don't know a lot about business and contracts, etc., but I don't doubt the AT&T contract was a bonus. Then again, the Texans have always had naming rights contracts but the increases keep on coming. I guess my biggest surprises came each year after moving into a billion dollars stadium and year after year there hasn't been an increase in ticket prices. I'm surprised, but not complaining and perhaps I can schedule a road trip, somewhere like Lambeau.

You are quoting me incorrectly. I never questioned whether or not he called 911. I am questioning whether ALL he did was as you put it "defended himself, locked himself in a room, and called 911."

He did get convicted after all. And I don't think he got convicted because the judge thought he defended himself, locked himself in a room and called 911.

If you believe that all he did was defended himself, locked himself in a room, and called 911, then why was he convicted of assault?

“On May 13, 2014, Greg Hardy attacked me in his apartment. Hardy picked me up and threw me into the tile tub area in his bathroom. I have bruises from head to toe, including my head, neck, back, shoulders arms, legs, elbow and feet. Hardy pulled me from the tub by my hair, screaming at me that he was going to kill me, break my arms and other threats that I completely believe. He drug me across the bathroom and out into the bedroom. Hardy choked me with both hands around my throat while I was lying on the floor. Hardy picked me up over his head and threw me onto a couch covered in assault rifles and/or shotguns. I landed on those weapons. Hardy bragged that all of those assault rifles were loaded. Landing on those weapons bruised [my] neck and back. Hardy screamed for his “administrative assistant” (Sammy Curtis) to come into the room and hold me down. Curtis came into the room, grabbed me from behind and held me down. Hardy and Curtis then took me into the living room area. I wasn’t nearly strong or fast enough to escape. I begged them to let me go & I wouldn’t tell anyone what he did. They took me out into the hall, pushed me down & went back inside his apartment. I crawled to the elevator and ran into CMPD (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department)

In court, the accuser testified: “He looked me in my eyes and he told me he was going to kill me. I was so scared I wanted to die. When he loosened his grip slightly, I said just,`Do it. Kill me.”

No idea what happened, but...

Understand that conviction is not what you would normally think of as having been convicted at trial. It's not a regular trial and is more akin to a grand jury where only the prosecution gets to put on a case. It's a gatekeeping function of is there enough evidence to even proceed to a trial. For whatever reason they use language there which confuses the issue (akin to in some places the lowest court in the system is called the Supreme Court).

On topic - if Hardy gets reinstated and the Cowboys get him that's going to be a great movie football wise for them. Really good player for dirt cheap.

I understand your point. TexasRED's point seems to be that nothing happened except that Hardy ran away and called 911. I was using the conviction more as ammo to say that something happened. At least enough for the prosecution to say something happened.

Rick Gosselin @RickGosselin
Gosselin: Cowboys' signing of Greg Hardy reeks of desperation | @dallasnews http://t.co/VT3fPfCkyI

Desperate teams sink to desperate measures.
...
I went back to my 2010 draft notes to see what I had on Hardy. One general manager said, “when he decides to play, he’s the most talented player in the draft.” A scout called him, “the most talented defensive end in the draft.” Another scout said, “as pure a pass rusher as there is in this draft.”

Yet in a league that’s driven on defense by the pass rush, Hardy slid all the way to the sixth round of the 2010 draft. He was the 175th overall choice and 14th defensive end taken. The Cowboys had three chances to draft Hardy but passed each time.

That’s because red character flags abounded. He was suspended for two games in 2008 for missing classes and workouts, and NFL talent evaluators spoke of his maturity and trust issues plus his sense of entitlement.

Seven NFL teams told me they had taken Hardy completely off their draft boards. They weren’t going to mess with him in any round at any price.

And that was before Hardy was convicted of domestic violence in 2014 and sentenced to 60 days in jail (suspended) with 18 months of probation. Hardy appealed the verdict and the charges were dismissed last month because court officials were unable to locate the victim to testify.

Hardy posted nine sacks in his last four games for Carolina — the final three games of 2013 and the first game of 2014 — before he was placed on the NFL exempt list to deal with his legal issues.

The Panthers eventually decided he was too much of a distraction to bring back in 2015, so they cut him and all of his pass rush potential earlier this month. Now Hardy awaits word from the NFL if he must sit for a stretch in 2015 with a suspension.

So the next time I hear Jason Garrett talk about bringing “the right kind of guy” into the Cowboys locker room, I’m going to turn my tape recorder off. Then I’m going to politely excuse myself.

After a brief spell of trying to win the right way with high-character players — think Sean Lee, Brandon Carr and Travis Frederick — the Cowboys are now just trying to win. The arrivals of Hardy and Rolando McClain plus the return of Josh Brent are proof of that. That’s a trio I wouldn’t invite over to my house for dinner any time soon...
