PAMPLONA, SPAIN (CBSNewYork) – Since the 14th century, brave men and women have turned out for the annual Running of the Bulls festival in Pamplona, Spain.

Among the crowd being chased by the beasts was New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan. He isn’t the only NFL coach to risk himself in the dangerous tradition.

Last year, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly and escaped unscathed.

Six people were injured at the event. Ryan wasn’t believed to have suffered any injury at the event.

Team confirms that Jets HC Rex Ryan participated in the running of the bulls on Sunday and today in Pamplona, Spain.

Can only imagine the hell he would raise if a player did this and got hurt.

Brave? I call that stupid...

I would actually like to do that...

It's crazy because I hate heights...I'm not a fan of roller coasters...I don't like to go on road trips and not be the driver....

If I don't feel like I'm in control I don't like it. Something like that though seems exciting...

I know they call it "Running With The Bulls" but it looks more like "Fence Climbing With The Bulls" in Rex's case.

Jup!!! Yeah it is!!!!!

Then again, it would be nice to see Rex Ryan's teeth turn from blue to red!

For some reason the video wouldn't play, but if true, I will reluctantly admit that Rex Ryan might be a little brighter than I gave him credit for. Stupid for doing it to begin with but at the same time smart enough to bail!

I wouldn't be surprised if he was hoping to get trampled so he could sniff some sexy hoof.

I'm sure he could suffer many injuries that wouldn't have much impact on his performance unless that included wiring his jaw shut

Horrific scenes on the streets of Pamplona as three men are brutally gored in bloodiest day yet of this year’s Running of the Bulls

An American tourist was gored by a bull on this morning along with two Spaniards on the bloodiest day of the famous Spanish Running of the Bulls festival so far this year.

The 20-year-old American tourist was gored in the stomach and a 42-year-old Spaniard in the arm as they took part in a bull-run in Pamplona, where people race through the Spanish town's cobbled streets pursued by the animals.

But the most terrifying moments occurred when a lone bull which had become separated from the pack attacked a second Spanish runner as he lay helpless on the ground after being mown down by the animal and tripping in front of it.

Looks like a couple of people were close to receiving their Darwin Award nominations...

I forgot that they killed the bulls afterward in bull fights. I wouldn't participate in something like that...

But the actual running part seems fun to me.

Yeah that looks fun. We are adding the event into our two week Spain trip next year but simply to go watch no real need for me to take the risk of running

Every time I think it would be cool to do do the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona as a bucket list item, I watch videos like the one linked above and change my mind.

For that reason alone I always root for one of the bulls to gore one of those dumbasses.

To add to hilarity, those bulls were not even interested in her.

Was Ryan one of the people being chased by the bulls or was he one of the bulls?

You asked for it, you got it.

Yeah, I thought about doing that for about 1/8th of a nanosecond and decided - nah.

Rex is actually a little way behind the bulls trying to make good on his offer of a date.
