With so much attention devoted to ACL patients like Robert Griffin III and Darrelle Revis, itís easy to forget that the two-time 2009 NFL defensive rookie of the year also hopes to return to form after a serious knee injury.

Texans linebacker Brian Cushing, who tore an ACL on a low peel back block from former Jets guard Matt Slauson in October 2012, said Friday Cush that clearance to practice is expected prior to the opening of the teamís training camp.

Via Nick Scurfield of the Texansí official website, Cushing said heíll be cleared by Dr. James Andrews on July 17 ó nine day before the Texans launch their quest for a third straight playoff berth and a first-ever conference title-game appearance, and beyond.

Besides the numerous spelling and grammar errors, what is a two-time 2009 NFL defensive rookie of the year?

He won the rookie of the year award. The NFL stripped it because of his PED violation. The voters awarded it to him again.

He won the rookie of the year award twice.

We've talked/joked about it many times here, I'm surprised so many people don't "get it"

Well, now that you mention it, I remember. I'm not exactly 100% sober either, so maybe the joke is on me.

I think Florio's "2 time DROY" reference to Cushing would come under the heading of a tongue-in-cheek joke even though Cushing certainly was technically just that, in fact named DROY twice.

Yeah, obvious reference for the diehards, but I can see how the statement can be confusing.
