Another Kick returner?

Can't wait for this guy to grow and take over for Foster and Tate. I've lost all faith in Foster securing the ball and Tate staying healthy.

We signed him so he wouldn't do that to us again this year! I guess that's one way to improve your ST's. :kitten:

I remember him. He messed us up. At least we have more competition. He went from Jaguars to Colts to Texans lol.

Is he the only one of the "tryout" players that got a contract?

He had zip carries with the Colts and chalked up ~2 ypc in 2011 with the Jags...........3 ypc if you average 2010 and 2011. Could be he is mostly being looked at as a returner.

Pro day results (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=85880&draftyear=2010&genpos=rb) -- 4.4 40-yard dash, 1.45 10 split.

5'8"/209, his vertical leap of 43 inches would have been first among all 2010 Combine tailbacks.

I actually like this. I think he has a really good shot at being the third or fourth RB. Really good athlete. If he can display some good vision from the backfield he could be a sleeper type pick up.

Is this mean that we are a little thin at returner position and needed more competition? We drafted Bonner for WR/KR kinda guy right? Personally, I don't want our starter/s to return kicks/punts as they put themselves in more risk getting injure. Now we got good kickers, hope we can find good returner/s.

Our return game was pathetic last year. We need to give as many guys looks as possible.

It didn't have much to do with the guy carrying the ball, though...

I don't think the kick return duty was the reason Houston selected Bonner. Kubiak was impressed with Bonner during the Combine because of his route running and his hands.

His best 40 timed at 4.35...........maybe Coach Joe can make him look like a worthless buffoon too.:kitten:

What ya saying here.

Coach Joe is the man, Says Jacoby/Holiday.

Besides Karims great return abilities I guess that 3.0 YPC is reallly going to make a huge difference in Garys gameplans.

Another Kick returner?

What do you mean "another"? We haven't had a kick returner since Trindon Holliday. Wait, we let him go before he could really establish himself. OK, since Jacoby Jones then. Oh wait, we didn't know he could return kicks until the Ravens proved that.

I'm beginning to think there might be a different issue at play here.

Honestly, I think our returners play too tight. Jmo, but I think kubiak instills a fear into those guys. I think they become so obsessed with securing the ball, that they don't play as natural.

The guys we've had back there have shown that they are capable, but I think it's hard to play that position when you are thinking that one mistake can cost you your job....your spot on the team..

Those guys were young. They didn't have any past nfl success to remember that they could in fact be good returners.

Put a guy like manning back there and all of a sudden we're breaking long ones. He returns loose. He's not worried about a fumble costing him his job. Plus, he knows damn well he's a good kick returner. All he has to do is look at his résumé.

Kubiak needs to instill confidence in whomever the returner ends up being. Yeah they may make some mistakes, but if you put a talented guy back there and have them playing loose and confident, they are going to make some plays.

I think the blocking stuff is overstated. There's only so much blocking you can do on special teams anyways.

Find the best man for the job, let it be his job. Sure preach ball security, but don't drill it so hard that its all the guy is thinking about. Let playmakers be playmakers. We don't want the returner version of Schaub throwing the ball away when there's no reason to. Let your players play man.

I bet you Gary wants him to run those "surprise" run plays on 3 and 20

Say..... just because we signed this guy doesn't mean he'll make the 53 right?

I mean we may just be kicking the tires on a guy they liked back when...

Well, it's official now. Karim and Horn have been signed, and Winn and O'Neill have been cut to make room.
